Rumor: The HTC Edge might be the world’s first Quad-core phone

Just when you thought it was safe to buy a dual-core Android phone, rumors of an upcoming quad-core phone surface. Pocketnow has some information about a yet unannounced HTC device that is rumored to be powered by an Nvidia quad-core processor. The Tegra 3 powered phone is being called the HTC Edge, and as of right now is expected to be released in the first half of 2012.

Besides the four 1.5GHz cores under the hood, the Edge has some pretty impressive stats. Most noticeably would be the massive 4.7 inch screen with 720p HD resolution. The camera is a backlit 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 lens. It is also rumored that the Edge will have 1GB of ram, and 32GB of storage built in. There was no information about if the Edge would come in an LTE flavor, but there was information about a 21Mbps HSDPA radio. All of this will be packed into a 10-millimeter-thick package.

One bit of information that was unclear is what operating system will be loaded onto the device. With HTC recently announcing several current model devices getting Ice Cream Sandwich in early 2012, we are hoping that the Edge will come preloaded with the frozen treat. The fact that the device pictured above has the physical Android buttons makes us worried that it will come with Gingerbread (which requires buttons), and be updated at a later date.

While we have seen tablets like the Asus Transformer Prime have quad-core processor, this is the first phone we’ve seen with a quad-core processor. Mobile technology is improving at an amazing rate, the first dual-core devices were announced earlier this year, and we are already being teased with quad-core phones. Now everyone who was thinking about upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus might be a little worried when signing that two year contract.

If you need a bigger screen, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 is another solid budget option. It is 10.5 inches and runs a much better 1920 x 1200 resolution, which also makes it a better option for watching content. The Oura Ring is a highly sought-after wearable device available in different styles and price ranges. It allows users to track their sleep and recovery, stress levels, illnesses, and fitness routines -- and it even provides features specific to women's health. With so many features, you might wonder whether the watch is waterproof. Let's find out.
Is the Oura Ring waterproof?
Technically, the Oura Ring is not waterproof. Instead, it's water-resistant up to 330 feet (100 meters). This is the case for most modern gadgets. You'll often find water resistance protection on products, which is good, but it's not exactly the same as being waterproof. But what does that really mean? We explain below.
Can you go swimming with the Oura Ring?
The Oura Ring has a certain level of protection that allows you to wear it while swimming, showering, and snorkeling. However, wearing the Oura Ring during scuba diving or when there is a risk of extended water submersion or extreme pressure is not advisable. Oura recommends avoiding wearing the ring in such scenarios to ensure its longevity and proper functioning.

Oura further explains: "The Oura Ring operating temperature ranges from [-10 to 52 degrees Celsius and 14 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit]. You can safely wear your ring in the shower, hot tubs, saunas, ice baths, and cryotherapy tanks. However, extended exposure to extreme temperatures (below 0°C/32°F or above 35°C/95°F) may lead to battery damage."
How does this compare to other smart rings?
Of Oura's chief competitors, only the Ultrahuman Ring Air provides similar water resistance. By contrast, the Amovan Smart Ring only provides water resistance up to 50 meters. The Oura Ring offers the same level of protection as the Apple Watch Ultra, making it an excellent alternative to smartwatches. However, it surpasses the Apple Watch Series 2 or later and the Google Pixel Watch 2, which can only resist water up to 50 meters.
