Apple revealed their new iPad today at a press conference in San Francisco. The company isn’t calling it the iPad 3. Instead, Apple is just calling it the iPad. It comes with a bevy of upgrades including the much ballyhooed Retina Display.
It’s features a 9.7-inch display with an amazing 2047 x 1536 resolution. The new camera system that Apple added to the iPhone 4S is making the transition over to the iPad. It features a 5-megapixel BSI sensor, face detection and the ability to record full 1080p HD video.
The iPad will also, surprisingly, be the company’s first 4G LTE device. The new tablet will be powered by the new A5X chip, which is a new quad-core SoC. According to Apple, the A5X offers four time better performance over the iPad 2.
The new iPad will be available starting on March 16 in black or white. The starting price will be $499.
