iLuv Shares Its i1166 9-inch Portable Media Player

i1166It’s been a long time coming but iLuv’s 9-inch i1166 portable media player is reaching the market, offering a consolidated way for video fans to watch their favorite content anywhere they go on a screen slightly larger than a postage stamp. The i1166 features a 9-inch display for viewing video from a variety of sources including DVDs (Divx certified!), USB drives, and SD/MCC memory cards…oh, and did we mention it supports video and audio content from iPods? Just pop in any compatible iPod to watch video content on a big 9-inch screen—and the i1166 even comes with its own remote control because, with a 9-inch screen, you’ll need to take a few steps back.

“We are confident that the i1166 will blow away every gadget lover’s expectations with what it can do and get tremendous attention from the holiday gift buyers,” said iLuv marketing manager Howard Kim, in a statement. “There’s virtually nothing it cannot play! We proved that we listen to our customers’ need by upgrading the picture quality, enhancing the playback solutions, and building it user-friendly. I can proudly say we’re introducing the most advanced portable multimedia player up to date”

The iLuv i1166 offers a USB port, SD/MMC card reader, two 3.5mm headphone jacks, and a DC power input jack. To load DVDs or iPods, users just open the case and insert their media or iPod, which they can then manage with a detailed on-screen interface. The i1166 is compatible with a variety of recent iPod models (including the first and second generation iPod touch, 3rd and 4th gen iPod nano, the iPod classic, and iPod with video). The unit supports a wide variety of media formats (including CD, VCD, SVCD, DVD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD±R, DVD±RW, DivX, MP3, WMA, and JPEG), and offers multiple subtitles, angle, and audio features, and runs off AC or DC power, or a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery—although, of course, when plugged in it’ll even charge an iPod, and it comes with a remote control for

Boasting only a faster processor, Apple hopes new iPod Touch will lure AR gamers
new-apple-ipodtouch-7th-gen

With no fanfare whatsoever, Apple just announced the latest version of its iPod Touch, a product it hasn't updated since 2015. You'd be hard-pressed to tell that anything has changed, though, judging from the exterior. From what we can see from the press release images, the new iPod Touch -- now in its seventh generation -- looks identical to the previous two iterations, right down to the headphone jack, a feature that Apple has been stripping from its other iOS devices.

What's new is on the inside: With an Apple A10 Fusion chip, the new iPod Touch is twice as fast as its predecessor and sports three times better graphics performance. That last stat is key because Apple is positioning the new device as a gateway to AR and specifically AR gaming. With its beefed-up interior components, it's also the first iPod Touch that can do group FaceTime calls.

Cambridge Audio Melomania M100.

Cambridge Audio's new Melomania M100 wireless earbuds are the U.K. company's first model to offer active noise cancellation (ANC), a key feature of virtually every flagship model from competitors, including Apple's AirPods Pro. The Melomania M100 are priced at $219 and are available starting on March 27 at Amazon and other retailers.

While ANC is a big addition, Cambridge Audio appears to have caught up with the market in a number of other areas, too. The M100 has a case that supports wireless charging, and thanks to Qualcomm's Snapdragon Sound platform, the earbuds can receive lossless CD-quality audio from compatible smartphones, as well as lossy, hi-res audio at up to 24-bit/96kHz.
