Steve Jobs comic book in the works for summer release

steve jobs speakingSteve Jobs is set to be immortalized in pen and ink this summer with the release of a new comic book based on the famed Apple co-founder’s life. Steve Jobs: The co-founder of Apple is being published by Bluewater Productions, the same company that earlier this year released a comic book that chronicled the rise of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

“His innovations command front page news, speculation of his health affects the stock market. Not bad for a college dropout,” said Bluewater president Darren Davis. “His story, and that of Apple, is epic. I’m surprised it took us this long to publish a proper, balanced biography of him.”

The comic book isn’t the only publication about Jobs in the works. Next March, Simon & Schuster will publish the highly anticipated iSteve: The Book of Jobs, an authorized biography of Jobs written by former Time managing editor Walter Isaacson.

Earlier this year, a Steve Jobs action figure was briefly available before Apple’s lawyers stepped in to halt sales of the figurine. Apple, which takes great efforts to protect Jobs’ privacy and image, went as far as to stop eBay auctions of the figure, some of which were fetching bids as high as $2,500.

Bluewater cited the success of its Zuckerberg comic as an underlying reason for moving forward with the Jobs comic. The company also announced that it will be releasing a graphic novel version of the Zuckerberg bio-comic this fall for $10.99.

The 32-page comic book is scheduled to go on sale in August in comic book stores and online through Amazon.
