Covered by Houston’s local NBC affiliate KPRC, a UPS delivery man decided it would be a brilliant idea to steal an iPad Mini off the doorstep of a home in North Harris county. The Apple tablet had been delivered at the home of Al Alverson at 9:45 a.m. by a FedEx delivery man. Since Apple requires a signature on delivery, Alverson had left a pre-signed delivery form taped to the front of the house authorizing the driver to leave the package by the front door. Alverson had ordered the iPad Mini for his daughter as a Christmas present and wanted to make sure the tablet was delivered in time for the holiday.
Just before 2:00 p.m., an unnamed UPS delivery man arrived at Alverson’s home to deliver a package. The security camera mounted above Alverson’s front door captured video of the UPS delivery man taking a closer look at the FedEx package before ringing the doorbell and walking away.
After waiting a few minutes to see if anyone answered the door, the UPS delivery man returned and picked up the FedEx package. The UPS delivery man looked at the package for a moment pretending to check the label and walked back to his truck.
Alverson contacted UPS over the phone to complain about the theft, but felt like he was “getting the run around” by the people handling the claim according to an interview with KHOU News. After posting the video footage to YouTube and Vimeo on Wednesday night, Alverson was quickly visited by a local deputy as well as a UPS investigator on Thursday morning.
UPS officials easily tracked down the thief based off the delivery records and fired him immediately for stealing the tablet. According to UPS, the delivery man was hired as a seasonal employee to help with the increase in package volume during the holidays. A new iPad Mini was delivered to Alverson on late Thursday courtesy of UPS and he removed the video from both YouTube and Vimeo. However, several mirrors of the security footage have been posted online. According to KHOU News, the delivery man was arrested by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and charged with theft.
On behalf of all UPSers, we are disappointed at the actions of a temporary helper who took a package from the doorstep of a customer. The holiday helper has been terminated for his actions. This does not represent our 400,000 UPsers who deliver millions of packages every day with pride and integrity. We have resolved this situation with our customer, and they are satisfied. Thank you, Annee Millman, UPS Social Media
Why would UPS leave a package at someone’s doorstep to begin with ! I thought policy would dictate someone actually answering the door and signing for a package and if that didn’t happen, the package would be redelivered ! Shows what I know !
You didn’t read the article…
“Since Apple requires a signature on delivery, Alverson had left a pre-signed delivery form taped to the front of the house authorizing the driver to leave the package by the front door”
Not a great deal… obviously. Read the story again. This time slower. You’ll get a better understanding of what happened here.
Derp! Read the article first, then comment.
Neither UPS, USPS, or FedEx require signatures unless either the sender or recipient arranges for it. Definitely shows what you know.
ddd
Then why give this homeowner the runaround till you found out he had videotape of your employee caught red-handed stealing?looks like he did the job for your lazy investigators and you still tried to blow him off till it was shown on nationwide TV. How thoughtful of UPS !
They are a HORRIBLE company. They refused insurance on my iPod Touch they stole that I bought for my brother for Christmas. He has MS and this was a huge purchase for me to make his life a little better. They denied they did it. GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! How thoughtful of UPS indeed.
ok, why did the UPS customer get a RUN-AROUND when he tried to call it in?? This is a major failure of UPS to not clean up after it’s THIEVES!!
Yes UPS did make things right BUT first they gave the customer a real run around as they ALWAYS do trying to get the customer to just give up and write it off as a bad deal.
AND even then not until they were FORCED to by the customer posting the video online to show the world how you are treated by UPS.
I have had a real bad problem with UPS quite a few times but will only show what happened in the worst one.
I had a package worth well over $600.00 that was delivered to a wrong address over 15 miles away bya rural route UPS driver.
Of course I didn’t know it had been delivered at all so I called UPS and was given a REAL BAD runaround as they said it was delivered by the driver and he had signed it off, it went this way for well over 2 months with me trying at least 3 times times a week.
Then the person that got the package finally called me and ask about the package she had received and of course I went and picked it up.
It had not been opened but was seriously damaged so I DID NOT open it either but started calling UPS trying to explain the situation and was even hung up on but finally after about another 3 weeks they did finally have the delivery driver stop and look it over and write a report, then it took another 2 1/2 weeks for him to come by again and pick the package up and give me a ticket on it.
Well after that it took 121 more days with me calling every week to get them to make it right with me.
YES they did after almost 9 months take care of THEIR problem.
SO MUCH FOR UPS CUSTOMER SERVICE.

UPS is union FedEx is not….their ground is but that is because they are outsourced not actual FedEx, lesson again unions suck, they are lazy, they are thieves+ and their leaders show them the way. I yearn for the day that unions are kaput. They bring nothing but worst out of people. Normal teachers, officers, firemen etc., become the most callous and immoral people when they join the union mob!
I am not big on unions either. But I was a supervisor at UPS for over 30 years and the people that worked for me were some of the most honest, decent people anyone could meet. Don’t judge all UPS employees by the actions of one. The drivers I worked with were hard working and customer oriented, and yes they were union and I was management. In the end we were all just working to support our families as best as we could.
yeah, but who’s COUNTING?
Thank you for sharing your story. UPS has terrible customer service. I ordered a package from HSN with $550.00 worth of merchandise. They left it at my apartment door, instead of the office. The package was stolen. All of my previous packages had been left at my apartment complex office. When I called UPS I was treated awful. HSN told me UPS said the package was received by me, even though it was just left at my door & not signed for. I tried d for a year to resolve the issue to no avail. My brother works for the State Attorney General’s office & he finally resolved it for me. I won’t ever deal with HSN or UPS again. I shop at QVC & I use fed ex or US mail.
They were uncaring when I called them also. Sorry about your headache from them!
I had an even worse experience with UPS when they lost/stole an expensive package of mine: they TWICE fabricated “proof of delivery”. The first one was obviously bogus, so I called them on it, and they immediately dropped it. The second one was excellent, and it was only because I could prove that the employee whose name was on it was out sick that day that they finally paid up. I should have called the police.
AS A UPS CASUAL EMPLOYEE DRIVER AND CUSTOMER i find this shocking and to read these comments left it’s even worse ………..i have had very few issues with ups deliveries and the few i did have was never given the run around or anything …..once they was even going to fire the package delivery driver but i thought that was too harsh for giving my package to my brothers wife …
UPS strives to be the best and demands the best customer service from their employees the do not tolerate dishonesty .
i had owned a custom wheel store and i know the delivery driver hated me every mon, wed, fri… he would have so many packages for me ….these others on here making these statements about the company really if you had such an issue when you called customer service all you needed to do was speak to a supervisor and i can assure you if you had your issue would have been solved very quick …….as for the company giving this poor guy the run around we don’t know they did as nothing here says or shows they did …..this criminal was a temporary hire as UPS and FED EX hires them for the holidays he had to have a clean record to be hired to start off and you can bet he will never make another delivery for UPS again in his life ……..
Too little too late ANNEE… SAD how UPS gave the homeowner the runaround until he posted to Youtube.
UPS spare us your, after the fact, face saving attempt. Just another huge corporation after the buck paying their “social media” employee to attempt a whitewash of BAD corporate behavior.
This is one person out of how many GREAT delivery people? I had my 3 carat diamond ring stolen by the UPS delivery guy – I never got it, they busted him, and fired him. It was the last ring Zales made like that, and I had to get another one similar to it. I was sad because I wanted that exact ring. Then my husband died, and I really wanted it. But, I never got it. I’m sure the delivery person got what was coming to him. But that doesn’t make me dislike every UPS driver. They go out of their way most of the time to deliver packages, and 99.999 are super honest. Every company has a bad seed. They come and they go, but UPS will always have a good name because they are diligent and care about their customers. Thanks for the post UPS!! Shows you care…
One of your workers in the Memphis hub stole $7000 worth of machined parts in Fed 2013. Your customer service reps are trained to protect the managers at the hubs, Teamsters I assume. We did apx $47,000 worth of business with UPS last year. We’re going to do more with Fed Ex this year and for the next 10 years. Protect those thieves at all cost.
UPS has traditionally been one of the worst delivery services. This is definitely representative of their quality of care & service for their customers.
Example: If your (7-day delivery) package arives in 2 days at your local UPS distribution center, they will hold onto it until the full 7-day delivery date arrives…AND they won’t let you pick it up at the distribuion center if you show up there for it….even if they KNOW it’s on the shelf behind their office AND you present identification. If your FEDEX ground (7-day delivery) shows up at distribution in 2 days. It’s delivered IMMEDIATELY.
YOU have NO idea what you are talking about!!!!! That is the MOST absurd thing I have ever heard!!! There is NO 7 day delivery ya dope!
You obviously don’t ship much, do ya’, Nimrod?
I speak from personal experience, knowing individuals who work in both companies.
I’ve heard the same thing regarding FedEx,supposedly they hold it.
I doubt it’s true for either.
I can confirm it’s true for UPS. In-state shipping for FedEx Ground (usually 7-day delivery service = 5 business days) is delivered in 24-48 hours. UPS won’t do the same (because that’s not the service you paid for). For those who don’t believe it. Try it.
Bullshit, I’ve had nothing but trouble with FedEx, and UPS has ALWAYS been good to me, regardless of where I’ve lived.
I can confirm this of Fedex as of today. My local center received my package two days ago. The last three days, the status has been repeatedly updated as “not due for delivery”. At one point, it was even on a truck, then removed to be held till next week.
Thank you package tracking…
Thanks for confirming what I said, Tanner! Likewise, I presently have a UPS package that arrived at my home city at 4:50 AM on Friday 12/28. The package is “scheduled for delivery on 1/2/2013. They could have delivered it Friday 12/28, Saturday 12/29 (FedEx uses this as a catch up day due to weather, when needed), Monday 12/31, but it has not yet arrived as of 1/1/2013. To make it clear, I do not expect delivery on the holiday. It will arrive on it’s scheduled date 1/2, after being held through 3 potential delivery dates. Other fools posting here don’t have a clue what they’re talking about by defendiing UPS.
Yes, there is. It is standard delivery for UPS.
Track your packages online. I have never seen either UPS or FED/EX hold a package. Once a package arrives at the nearest distribution, it gets put on a truck and delivered…
For some reason, the evil union members at UPS seem to deliver a lot of my packages ahead of schedule…
Ive worked within USPS as tech contractor having to deal with new technology integrating with the long established processes for sortation and delivery, and I can tell you its a cluster fuk sometimes the way the mail flow is staged and delivered out.
UPS and FedEx use very similar schema in sorting, and its easy to imagine why they would want to lock down the delivery schedule in order to minimize random changes affecting delivery and tracking of parcels destined to enter different zip regions in the lumped-together bundles of sorted mail on the trucks, interstate and inter-cluster wise.
In this spirit, believe it or not, USPS might offer more options for this kind of desired flexibility, as their sortation schemas and mail-flow are the most refined and proven in the world… not compensating for the APW union goons down at the P&DC floor level….lol
Noy true at all!! Where do you get your facts!! Ups has the best on time delivery in the bussiness! Dosen’t make cents to hold a package at a center, you just totally made that story up!Shame on you!
Actually I had packages delivered TODAY (12.-24) that showed up at the holding center Friday. It was set to be dleivered on Friday, but only half the order showed up. It sat in the warehouse all weekend, and showed up today. So yes, packages do tend to sit sometimes. Fedex has done the same thing to me. Package set to be delivered on a Tuesday, it showed up in the warehouse Friday. It sat there until Tuesday morning when it came out for delivery. While both companies do it, it’s not a “made up story”.
The guy state that UPS will hold at warehouse on purpose even if it arrives at warehouse early they will hold it till the delivery date! Dosent make sence to do that,No room to store packages at warehouse!Much easier to put on truck and get it out of there! I should know,I work there! What happened to you was not done on purpose, mistakes happen. Everybody has them.
Maybe they dont deliver it until the right day because you did not pay for a faster shipping time. So it sits there while the drivers deliver more important packages that have to be out sooner. So they can wait until the day your package needs delivered to take it to you and they can plan a route better if they have more time to do so.
Wow, you’re complaining that UPS delivered a package to your house on Christmas?
It is pretty hard to make general statements on the performance of UPS or FED/EX the week before Christmas.
Now, read it and weep, DUMBASS…

Ridiculous… my husband was a 34 year UPS driver… and an exceptional one at that!
Actually nothing in your post is accurate. UPS has better times in transit on their packages than FedEx overall and no packages sit in a warehouse unless they have an issue with a bad address or damage; wich amounts to less than one tenth of one percent of the tens of millions of packages that they deliver on time and in excellent condition every day. Every package in the UPS system is moving constantly and is tracked via gps in the vehicles that it is transported in, with scans for tracking every step of the way. It’s a shame that a seasonal temp worker is tarnishing their excellent (in my humble opinion) reputation. I don’t know how many thousands of temp workers they hire for the holidays but in a company that size it’s understandable that you might get a bad apple in the bunch. FedEx has had their share of trouble too, check out the security camera video of the Fed Ex guy throwing the computer monitor over the fence….
No packages sit in a warehouse, huh, DUMBASS?…

I like how you people complain about the pckage being shipped on time. If you want it faster, pay for it!
This comment is COMPLETE BULL CRAP! UPS would have to have a separate warehouse to hold pkgs that arrived too “early” to be delivered. If you do not have evidence to prove your comments it is better to keep you mouth shut!@!
You’re a clueless idiot.
how long did you work at UPS??
Now, deny they held this package, DUMBASS…

There is not a 7 day delivery. There is ground – up to 5 days, 3 day, 2 day, and Next Day. Then mixed in there are early am’s and so on. I have been a Warehouse Manager working with UPS for over 25 years. You are not educated in the delivery options UPS has available. Now if it is UPS Expedited from overseas then you will might have to wait the full 4 days for it to be delivered. They will hold it if it’s early but not Express Express is usually 2 days International. Please educate yourself and stop spreading fall details to people unless you know the facts.
fall = false
I’ve had FedEx hold packages until the projected delivery date, too. Really pisses me off. Their tracking proves it just sits there for days, 10 minutes from my house.
Please tell me they fired this wanker. I don’t want him on my UPS route. The UPS dude I usually get has been delivering for at least six years in my neighborhood and he’s definitely reliable.
Read the Article!
Why do people comment on an article that they haven’t read? *Facepalm*
Read the article, you WANKER!
I know how UPS handles this kind of thing from personal experience.
Just last year, I tracked down a lost package, knowing that I’d received email tracking updates showing that it it was delivered to the wrong address in a different town in a different state.
it didn’t make a SINGLE bit of difference to UPS that I had an email FROM THEM with an attached JPG of someone ELSE’s signature and company receiving stamp in a different town.
Seven different people spent 2 hours and four phone calls trying to deny to me that my package had gone astray, and implying a dozen times over that I’d signed for it, that
I was the one who was wrong, that I was making up the information I was telling them.
Finally, I managed to get the local delivery hub manager conferenced in on the call. He verified that the tracking number in question had NEVER ENTERED the local
delivery systems network, and never been entered in the delivery loadout of any local truck.
That earned me a long silence from UPS claims rep #7 (I thought she’d hung up), and then finally she said “let me get you a supervisor”.
At that point, the manager of my local delivery hub of the introduced himself again to the claims manager (who was surprised any other UPS employee was already on the call – I could tell he thought he’d be dealing alone with just the customer.
Once he heard my side of the story he started denying and implying that it was my fault and that the package had been delivered to me.
He really didn’t like it when the manager of the local hub say the package/tracking number in question had never been in the local manifests,
he actually muttered “shit” under his breath, and started typing on his computer, and looking at the records.
Within two minutes, he’d confirmed exactly what the local manager had said – that the package hadn’t come here, and had been delivered in the wrong town.
(that was the first time anyone in the 7 people and four calls I’d made to UPS had actually stopped talking and denying and had LOOKED in their computer.)
UPS got me my package in two more days, and the server buildout was delayed one week, which cost the vendor a lot of time.
I don’t think UPS Corporate has ever forgiven me for knowing the local phone number of the local delivery hub, and knowing the manager.
I suspect that manager may have gotten in trouble for defending a customer, but he said he enjoyed bucking the BS attitudes from their corporate-can-do-no-wrong mentality.
I’ve had UPS deliver packages to the wrong house, then deny it and claim they have “proof of delivery.” When I find the package at a neighbors doorstep, they won’t even respond to my complaints. UPS SUCKS!
A Black Obamasite… of course.
They won’t be happy until they’ve turned the U.S. into a Haiti-type of country; filled will over-sexed, lazy, freeloading, whining scum.
Wow, speaking of scum, I’ll do you one better. How about racist scum? I bet you don’t say that to your black coworkers. Smdh…grow up. Racism is out of style!
Niggers are the most racist of any group of sub-humans.
Anyone who supports Obama is a parasite.
Either stupid, emotional, or a fat and ugly woman.
If it speaks the TRUTH then its not racism its just TRUTH and yes it can hurt at times but oh fu(king well, its time to be real.. When a race ‘makes’ you hate them then its just justified hate not racism, hiding behind the race card is racism…This is America it is not Africa!!
Peace Out!!
They already did, go look outside!!!!!
As a 40 year employee of UPS I would like to say that this person does not represent 99.9% of our workers. This was a temp worker that I hope has a full time job at the local jail now. I was sorry to see slow response from the company so that this video would have been avoided. Someone is getting grilled severely about slow follow-up. To all the crooks that may read this, remember that you are being watched all the time now. Why don’t you try to find a honest job.
I’m pretty sure this is one of the reasons why Apple requires their deliveries from both UPS and FedEx to be actually signed for rather just left near the door. I have had three separate deliviries this month from Apple, two delivered by FedEx and one delivered by UPS. ALL three had to be signed for prior to being actually delivered.
This sounds to me like the FedEx delivery person did not follow proper procedure and left the item in at risk situation. Clearly, UPS is NOT the only one at fault here.
BTW…both companies have issues with packages being damaged in transit. I’ve experienced it from both organizations.
The buyer signed the sticky card that states package could be left. FedEx did follow proper procedure. Please read carefully before libeling others.
Then I amend my original comment as I missed that in the video; also, I wasn’t trying to libel anyone with my comment. But, since the owner signed the notice to allow for the delivery they should also assume some of the blame here on this incident IMHO.
If it were me and I was not able to be here to sign for an expensive item, I’d redirect the driver to leave it a FedEx location.
i don’t think the owner should be responsible for the theft – it is clearly the fault of the UPS driver seeing an opportunity and taking it. hopefully he will be terminated
I agree the blame lies on the delivery person…and he was terminated if you had read article. The owner is clearly not at fault for a thief. That being said, I think this theft could have been prevented.
Still though, it is likely the thief would have found some other victim to prey upon. Hopefully, he gets what is coming to him and is fully prosecuted.
I think Apple bears some responsibility in this. They do not have to ship this expensive product in packaging that screams what is inside !
Looked to me like the product was in a plain box.
I bought a 1st gen iPad from an electronics store and they gave it to me in the outer shipping box, which was a plain, yellowish brown box. It didn’t say ‘Apple’ on it anywhere.
It does annoy me that Apple ships iMacs in their retail packaging…
WOW…..Your logic is so twisted it is scary!!!! ALL ….I said ALL of the blame is on this low life that stole the package. He is on someone’s property and he stole their personal property!! You got to be kidding me to think that ANY blame can be placed anywhere other than the thief!! If he showed up at someone’s house and stole the xmas lights off their bushes, by your logic, the homeowner would be to blame for having xmas lights???!!!!! Cmon man!!! You are better than that…..or are you????
Clearly this man was temporary christmas help, full time UPS drivers don’t need to steal they make alot of money!
and the shipper can request no pre releases which apple usually does
If you read the story you would know that the homeowner had a signature release form hanging on his front door allowing Fedx to leave Ipad without signing for it.
The one black guy who works a legitimate job, and he has to steal.
I guess it’s just in their DNA.
N*99ers being N*99ers.
Probably jealous of his slimey playa friends who are getting rich by selling drugs or knocking up fat, ugly, lazy, stupid white and Latino hogs and ripping off welfare and the IRS through false returns.
Better this than some cracker shooting up a school in Connecticut!
Most Africans do teach other blacks to hurt and kill and steal from whitie if they can. They dont teach peace and love they teach crime and hate.
Dell and Apple get a lot of packages stolen after they are delivered (not always by a delivery person) – people walking by the house do it too. I know they pride themselves on their Brand recognition, but it would help if they didn’t post their names or logos on the boxes that are being shipped to someone’s door.
Bottom line no one should be stealing packages. The fault lies with the thief… Point blank period. I leave signs on the door in case i can’t be there when they come but i ask them to leave it behind a couch on the porch. That is to prevent anyone walking by to come up on my porch and steal the package. In this case it is the UPS guy so there is not much one could do except have cameras and post on you tube. Thank God this person finally got justice done.
UPS is a great company, but there are scum everywhere.. priests, cops, teachers, Obama, etc.
The worst thing is that the scum Teamsters Union will come up with some ridiculous excuse to keep this guy from losing his job … “he was securing the package so that it wouldn’t be stolen” etc.
Unions protect the scum and enrich the scum bureaucrats that run the unions, at the expense of the “good” union employees.
99% of crimes….BLACK or LATINO
Did anyone get a description of the thief? What can brown do for you??? ahahaha
My observation is, that UPS guy sure was moving slow for this time of year!! Our UPS guy is always running to get his deliveries done!! Sad that this guy made a stupid decision in his work uniform.
I understand that UPS is not at fault here… Though something can be said about their screening process for seasonal employees. This guy is scum! This is what’s wrong with this country anymore. I wonder what that idiots excuse was “Duuuuh, I thought it was one of our packages.” It’s good to see the FedEx guy actually read the pre-authorization form, rather than just grabbing it and leaving. He’s doing his job right! Just goes to show, everyone should put cameras on their house… What a world we live in.
UPS Is completely at fault. They Let their employees Throw Packages, Steal, and electronics break in their trucks.
maybe, but I said they weren’t at fault “here”, in this situation.
Yes, UPS is at fault for screening an employee who probably lied, then I’m pretty sure firing the guy. Yes, all UPS’s fault -_-
Yes it is their fault.
Have you never gotten a ruined package from UPS?
I Hate UPS.
They were at fault trying to drag their feet after a customer got his merchandise stolen till they found out it was videotaped and put on the TV news, then they are wiping egg of their faces for the coverup they were trying to get away with once they knew their big brown uniform was on camera stealing !
The United States Postal Service still delivers mail and packages to your door on time with relatively low expense. The USPS often gets bad press, but it is the only service I can rely upon to deliver and send my packages from my apartment building. I am always amazed that anyone uses FedEx or UPS.
You do realize the USPS contracts out with UPS to do their shipping? UPS picks up packages at the post office, ships them to the destination and then the USPS delivers them locally…
I wouldn’t trust either. The Fed-Ex and UPS drivers in the Dallas County area are stealing boxes of phones being returned to the manufacturer. The drivers stash them behind bushes and dumpsters in out of the way warehouse complexes that have low occupancy rates (who questions a UPS or Fed-Ex driver about what they are doing) and come back later and pick them up or have one of the people in on the scam pick them up. One of the maintenance guys at at one of the warehouse complexes found several boxes stashed behind a bush by one of the vacant offices as he was standing there a Fed-Ex truck pulled up and the driver got out and asked if he could get his packages the weird thing was it had a UPS labels on the package, he said you can have the packages after the police come by, he got in his truck and left they got his truck number and license plate number.
Aren’t phones being returned to their manufacturers malfunctioning? I can’t see anybody sending in a functioning phone to the manufacturers. Or anyone dumb enough to steal a malfunctioning phone…
Some shippers(senders) actually set it so that if no one is there at time of delivery, they will have it sent right back to them. Either that, or and signature is required at the time of delivery. This is supposed to prevent the chances of them being stolen. I’ve had LOTS of customers shouting in my ear about “Why would they do that!?!?!?! I NEED my phone!!!!” I’ve had to direct them to the shipper (sender) for them to make other arrangements. I wanted to tell them so bad for them to take their pick: it gets sent to the shipper, or it winds up stolen. At least at the shipper, they have a chance of getting it.
Nigger.
Why remove the video? The thief took the package. Show reality.
ms millman the big question is why ups gave the man thne big run around until he posted the video. explain that!!!!!
Just a question, is it possible that the thief was a regular UPS employee, and the run around that UPS was giving the customer was giving UPS time to come up with the seasonal employee scenario to help them save face. Bottom line, how do we know for sure that he was seasonal and not a regular employee. I personally do not have anything against UPS, the corporation I worked for used UPS for many years and I can not remember anyone complaining about anything to do with UPS. I only mention the above possibility because it needs to be addressed.
I think I see haloperidol or aripiprazole (Haldol and Abilify) in your future…
Right! I demand to see this man’s personnel file in its entirety! But…how will I know that it’s his real file, and not one just made up to support the “seasonal emplyee” scenario!? AHHHH! I CAN’T TAKE THE INFINITE POSSIBILITIES!!!!! *WHOOP-whoobwhoobwhoobwhoop* (Zoiderg/Three Stooges scuttle)
Right! I demand to see this man’s personnel file! But…. how would I know it’s his real file and someone didn’t just make one up to support the “seasonal employee theory?!” AHHHHHHH!!!!!! *whoop whoobwhoobwhoobwhoop* (Zoidberg/Three Stooges scuttle)
UPS is an amazing provider of logistics. If UPS and even FedEx did not provide the quality of services in which they do, consumer costs and confidence would be drastically higher and lost, respectfully. Many companies don’t operate at the 98-99% effectiveness these companies operate daily with mere profit margins of 5-10%. The USPS is cheaper, slower, and operating at a billion dollar loss per quarter of your tax dollars and adding to the national debt. The salaries of the USPS employees near mimic FedEx and UPS employees for a poor quality service and financial loss of taxpayers. Just remember that the next time you are the 1% of customers to receive on time but unfortunately damaged/lost package from UPS or FedEx.
As I said, before, USPS contracts with UPS to do their shipping. UPS delivers the package between post offices. Then the USPS tries, not very hard, to get your package to you.
Actually, it’s the other way around: UPS works with USPS to deliver packages to different addresses. It’s call Mail Innovations. Also, UPS has a service called SurePost which shippers (like Wal-Mart, Macy’s, Target. etc.) use to cheaply send get their packages to customers at around a few bucks per package. To the customer, they THINK they’re using UPS, but it’s actually being delivered ‘the last mile’ by USPS. Us customer service reps can’t outright say, ‘It’s because your shipper’s being cheap’. But when THEY(the receiver) deduces on their own, yeah, I’ll confirm it!
Sure this grinch doesnt have a house full of goodies? He seemed pretty non-chalant about stealing someones Christmas gift. Do you really think this was a one time deal? Doesn’t USPS do criminal background checks? This guy is a total loser!
this is another reason not to hire a colored
Thieving POS
lol wow. Next time buy your kid a Nexus 7. Better unit and less likely to get RIPPED!
Wow, that is extremely scandalous! I use both accounts, but I know who to trust now. Haha, kidding.
I also received the runaround from no less than 6 customer service reps after a package containing $7000 worth of machined parts were stolen from the Memphis Tennessee UPS hub. I tried to reach the Memphis hub to send a photo of the parts hoping they could look for them and return them to me. They said the parts were missing and the box discarded, file a claim. The customer service reps are trained to run interference and protect those managers at all cost. We did apx $47,000 worth of shipping business with UPS last year. After this we have changed to Fed Ex to handle all of our shipping.
Google UPS theft and read all of the stories. Guns, drugs and electronics.
UPS and the Teamsters.
my neighbor worked “security” for UPS in NJ–his job , contrary to what I believed, was to protect the packages from the people who worked for UPS–just like here in NY–the banks say to protect from fraud “watch your garbage”, safeguard critical info, be careful “where you shop” and “BUY A PAPER SHREDDER”-LOL—-what they dont tell you is 90% of the stolen info is done by the very people who work for the banks,(not the issues w/CEOs etc but lower level people who sell the info or use it to get credit for themselves.)
Why would UPS feel the need to ask the Alverson’s to remove the video?
You can’t erase history, as the mirrored versions show. I guess UPS did feel the need to try and at least smudge it a bit, though.
and UPS wasn’t going to do a damned thing about it, until it was posted online…
I think it’s poor customer service that UPS gave this man the run around to the point that he had to post it on You Tube. Also, I find it interesting that UPS mentions that it was a temporary helper who took the package. Correct me if I’m wrong but the temporary helpers or holiday helpers are hired to ride with the driver to help… if that’s the case wouldn’t the driver question a un-accounted for package in the cab of the truck since it’s wide open? Huh?…. just wondering….
Yeah, sure you’re disappointed on ‘behalf of all UPSers”. My iPod Touch I bought my brother was STOLEN by your HACK delivery team along the way, and I was given an empty box!!! This was for my brother for Christmas who has MS, and I spent $200 on it, that was hard earned. I am sickened by this, and UPS has said they weren’t covering the insurance – what the HECK does that mean? YOUR PEOPLE STOLE IT!!! I will
NEVER
USE
UPS
AGAIN!
I ship hundreds of small mailers and boxes a year. Hello USPS, the most safe place I’ve ever used.
The UPS drivers I have dealt with have all been fine upstanding folks. HOWEVER, their customer service people (with one exception) have been a pain every time I have had to call. They seem to read from a set script and have no desire to actually help. I had a package delivered that had been ripped open and the contents were gone. The shipper blamed it on UPS and demanded I open a ticket with UPS. UPS refused to even open a ticket since I wasn’t the person who actually shipped it. It was in UPS’s possession when the damage occurred. After several months, I finally gave up and wrote it off. I have tried to avoid any use of UPS when I can since then. The company I work for has shifted the bulk of their business away from them. The incident has cost UPS a thousand fold more that what it would have cost to cover my losses.
UPS has delivered packages to me which required a signature. I would receive a notice from UPS they had a package and to contact them as to when they could deliver? Houston is a bad place to leave anything anyway. People are just too naughty in big cities.
I am a real American so I only use USPS, seeing this person had 2 diff items shipped to them by 2 company’s that are not American then stolen from someone that isnt a real American is fine by me.. USPS is going broke b/c others that live in this country dont care what or how they buy goods or services. All three companys USPS, UPS and Fed Ex has thieves working with them right now hell I bet there is 100′s that steal something there at times all yr yr after yr at all 3 companys, BUT I being American will back American companys first!!
Its sad that other Americans allowed other crap into this once great country and now turned sh1t hole b/c of it.. UPS and Fed Ex has higher costs then USPS so I dont understand why someone would use them to begin with. Oh and I am a reseller so I have sold 1000′s of items on eBay, c/list and local papers and not once used the non American companys and their higher costs with less services backing that higher cost to ship with..I shipped at least 10000 items if not more in last 10 yrs. I buy American made packaging, supplies, etc then ship using an American made and ran company..
Remember if its not American then it is of the enemy, no one on this planet likes Americans, no one does, ask any of them and they say they like to see us all gone as a whole. You ever wonder why??
I am not a part of the problem I am the part that tries to help, what can you all say??????
Happy New Year and may God bless this non common sense, over-weight, backwoods ran country….
And this all said by a ‘Native American’!!! The rest all can kiss my @$$
Don’t put fragile on your package or the UPS sorters will crush it…
That’s typical… I had a computer stolen by a UPS employee and I got the run-around when I discovered what happened. UPS didn’t have an answer for how the theft occured but my computer was still gone. I shipped a new Apple Mac Mini with UPS a few years ago. The UPS guy picked up my shipment and logged it into their tracking system. It was unloaded from the UPS truck at a secure UPS distribution center in Dallas. That was also logged in the UPS tracking system. The next morning I got an email from UPS indicating that there was a problem with my shipment. The box my computer was in was found open – and empty. I filed for a refund of the cost of my computer. UPS just gave me the run-around even though they could not explain what happened to my computer. “What can UPS do for you today” ? They’ll steal your stuff if they think they can get away with it. I’ve never shipped another package with UPS since and whenever I get the opportunity I tell my friends and associates not to use them either !
I’m going to say this one time. If you don’t want your package stolen then make sure when you order the product you select on the shipping form “Must be present to accept package” It is something a long those lines that most if not all retailers offer when shipping your item to you. It might cost you a little more…emphasis on “might” meaning possibly or possibly not. It is worth it if you don’t want it just sitting there on the porch when you get home. Fedex has the same option in most cases. Look into it or good luck getting ripped off. ….oh and if you do say yes to the signature requirement make sure you’re home because after 3 times it get’s returned to the retailer.
I am a warehouse manager. UPS’s union is very impressive. I never hear of any incidents like this domestic or International. When you ship something domestic through UPS I never had to file a claim. Internationally is another story. A lot of crime in other countries so claims are frequent but not because of the drivers. UPS watches everything including the union very carefully. I’ve had the priveledge of working with UPS a long time now and rarely and I mean rarely even hear of this. It’s almost all the time the seasonal employees that do these kinds of things not the permanent employees.
This happens on all jobs,UPS does a great job.Keep up the good work. There is a bad apple in every bag.
Another darkie strikes again.
I can’t say about this case, but, where I live UPS is fantastic.
The UPS route driver knows me (He helped me when I was injured one time) and we are on a first name basis.
He has delivered packages to me when the package had my name on it, my sister’s (4 hours away) address and town and my zip code. He has delivered packages addressed to my post office box…
I buy a fair amount of Apple stuff from a distributor that uses UPS and it all gets personally handed to me.
FED/EX is just as good, although I don’t know them and it seems it’s a different person every time…
IF this was a ‘seasonal helper’ he wouldn’t be the driver. The driver would then be a co-conspirator and should also be fired.. that is IF UPS is telling the truth.
WHAT CAN BROWN STEAL FROM YOU?
Scumbag rat bastard UPS person. My son started at UPS on his 18th birthday, worked till almost 21 (not quite 3 years). He was offered a supervisor job part time 11pm to 3am shift. He was undecided to take the supervisor job because of his youth as well as loss of union (teamsters) membership. Wife and I told him your a good kid, honest, and a hardworker, take the supervisor job. Well about 3 months into it, he was threatened, called various names, etc by a scumbag teamster worker (24 yrs old, minority to boot). He informed his immediate supervisor about this problem, supervisor refused to get involved (god forbid you correct these actions). Well it went another week, son asks us about it, scumbag minority teamster UPS employee threatenens to slit his throat, and blow up the place. Well guess what, son gets fired along with his supervisor (15+ yr, his supervisor (20+ yrs). Reason for sons firing, “non-issue”, failed to report situaion to higher supervisor. Bullshit, they don’t want to follow CHAIN OF COMMAND, and their petrified of the rat bastard union. Was told he should have called the police of the violent threats. I feel sorry for the non-union workers of UPS as well as the general public who have no idea of this kind of crap. For anyones information, it was the Buffalo NY, dingen st location. Go fed ex, or any start up delivery service, teamsters, YOU BLOW.
UPS is a wonderful and terrific company. I know UPS and have used them for business and for personel for decades. I have had friends that have worked for UPS as drivers and dispatch. They have never ever let me down in any way. This one jackass driver is just that, a jackass. And he is not UPS in any form…

ggg
Fedex sent one of its agents to apply for ups seasonal and steal a package to hurts ups image. Genius.
ridiculous
A bad image for UPS lol delivered by FedEx, stole by a UPS
Ethics are so annoying. I avoid them on principle.
Darby Conley, Get Fuzzy Comic, 08-15-07
+++thank u Mr. Hathaway. . .
Oh no! I was a trustworthy seasonal UPS driver.:) That’s shameful!
It’s just sad.
We’re still sinners, afterall.
UPS aka U People Steal
Take it easy fella,he was a temp christmas time helper! I work for Ups and we don’t consider them employees and represenitives of are great company!
“are great company” – oh that makes me feel good! it’s OUR. and second – if you’re such a great company why does your company steal so much from customers AND then deny insurance when they knowingly have crooked help like this guy? They are a HORRIBLE company. They refused insurance on my iPod Touch they stole that I bought for my brother for Christmas. He has MS and this was a huge purchase for me to make his life a little better. They denied they did it. GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! How thoughtful of UPS indeed. They SUCK, make excuses all you want. NEVER AGAIN!
How many times did Ups steal from you? Do you have the tracking number for your package?
just the once. yes, I had a tracking. Their hack customer service kept telling me it was denied, and there was no way to appeal. They’re a horrible company. I have spent thousands and thousands since then at USPS, and some at FedEx, oh, and with no theft.
UPS owes me $200, and I’ll never forgive ‘em.
lol, I only have one package that UPS says they delivered but I haven’t received it, Newegg.com helped me out thru the claim process and sent me a replacement for it. that is the down side of hiring new seasonal drivers, you have no idea if they can really be trusted.
Why can’t UPS and FedEx play nice together. Sure, they should compete but at the end of the day they should just go out and have a beer together. That doesn’t always work, but it often does.
Fed Ex and UPS will merge to become Fed-UP
Good god, people are still recycling this stupid old unfunny line?
You would think these delivery people would think twice about stealing or throwing packages around. This is the 4th indecent Ive seen where a hidden camera catches them doing something stupid and losing their job.
Think this UPS guy will find another job anytime soon? Maybe cleaning toilets or a $7 an hour crap job. A thief and an Idiot!
He’s already working for FedEx
He may come up w/ something quick, I hear they make inmates work.
He will not be getting a decent job anytime soon over a $400 tablet.
