I bought this DVD player.Hooked-up to HDMI HDTV,direct connect w/HDMI Acoustic Reasearch cable. Would not play any disc’s storebought or burned. Just spit out disc’s with “disc error” message.Brought it back and swapped out for another unit. This one played DVD’s but no sound. I found the PDF file from LG’s website. PDF states will play ALL dvd’s at 1080i upconvert. and that it’s HDCP compliant. Page 10 of the manual states “For 720p and 1080i resolution, only non-copy protected disc’s can be played back.If the disc is copy protected,it will be displayed at the 480p resolution”. Doesn’t sound HDCP compliant to me. Not many DVD’s released that are not copy protected. Kind of defeats the purpose of upconversion with this unit. Of course the PDF says on disclaimer specs subject to change.

Very dissapointed, second unit going back to the store.

This player comes with an impressive list of features, but lacks in the most critical area, the ability to playback a DVD. The unit began to “skip” and “stick” during the 3rd playback of a disk and then froze completely. LG support suggested running a lense cleaner disk and “resetting” the player by unplugging and plugging back in. This proved to be only slightly effective allowing a DVD to start but not complete. Now they want $70 to replace the unit that obviously shares a manufactures defect reported by reviewers. Very dissapointed with this player and LG. I will never knowingly purchase another one of their products.

A day after puchasing the tray got stuck so I took it back. I had the second one for 2 weeks and the unit began to “skip” and “stick”. Save yourself trouble and don’t buy!! I’ll never buy LG again.

I bought this at BestBuy last summer to replace my aging Sony DVD changer. Since then, I have regretted it every day. The picture quality is absolutely terrible, ‘upconversion’ is over-rated and the audio frequently gets disconnected from the video. It is also very picky about the media it plays. 1/2 of my DVD-Rs won’t work with it at all. Truly one of the worst things I have ever spent money on. I am actually comtemplating getting my Sony changer fixed instead of using this thing.

Ours also freezes all the time. It progressively gets worse the more the unit is used. We returned the unit the first time and got a new one. It is now occurring with the replacement. I do not recommend his model.

The DVD player works great with regular RCA jacks. When I hook up the HDMI cable I lose the sound. Furthermore, every time I switch the video source on the TV and go back to the DVD player, I have to reset the 180i button. I wouldn’t recommend buying this unit.
