I finally got mine in the mail last week and like it so far. The nightshot works better than my older Hi* model, and the Zeiss lens as always is great. The 6.1 zoom is better than my 4, but not much. Like all of Sony’s designs; you come to love the button layout, and this one is the same. It’s easy to use and the picture looks great. If you can live with tapes like me, you’ll like this camera.

Has anybody had trouble with this viewfinder yet? Used approx. 4 hours and when looking into view finder their is a white line sguare in the finder. Very annoying. Sent in for repair and awaiting return. Gone almost 1 month. Besides this, it’s a great camcorder: videos/ pics. Like zoom increased! BIG AL CA.

My criterion for buying a small back up camera for my FX1 was that it should have external mic and earphone connectivity. The HC7 has these, but how the hell do you connect an external mic? There is a “hot shoe” type connector on the top of the lens barrel which sits in a little recess covered by a shiny plate. How do I connect my mic (a Sennheiser MKE300) to this hot shoe? Because of the recess, you can’t slide the shoe in. There seems to be no mention of this in the manual. Help please!
