BMW’s M5 has been around since the early 1980s and built upon their 5-series executive car line. Their latest M5 is based on the F10 which is set to be released in November of 2011. The latest M5 drops the old V10 engines in favor of a 4.4 litre V8 engine. It also takes away the naturally aspirated engine in favor of a forced-induction one. The gear-box is a dual-clutch with seven speeds. Part of the reason for a switch in the engine is environmental and some of it is economical. BMW claims that the new engine brings a 30% reduction in fuel consumption.
