Mercedes-Benz hasn’t announced the roided-out AMG variant of its all-new flagship the S-Class just yet. But a video of the luxury performance sedan in the company’s Sindelfingen, Germany production facility has hit the web, which was originally posted on the Czech website Auto Forum.

Intriguingly, the new S63 AMG doesn’t look as quite as wild as other AMG models. Yes, it does have slightly bigger air intakes in the front but it doesn’t look quite as menacing as others – take the SL63 AMG or the recently unveiled CLA45 AMG for example.

What will be under the hood? We’re likely to see an S63 AMG powered by the 550-horsepower twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 that breaths life into the E63 AMG. Later on, we wouldn’t be surprised to see an S65 AMG powered by a twin-turbocharged 621-horsepower V12.

Both prodigious powerplants will send power to all four wheels through Mercedes’ seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch transmission.

Now that Mercedes has done away with the Maybach line, the S-Class has to fill the void and become a car fine enough for European royalty and powerful enough to outrun the supercars of a Saudi prince.

Mercedes should be releasing more information on the colossal S-Class AMG variants sometime in the summer. So check back for more.

Mercedes-Benz’s brawny G-Wagen will get an electric makeover
2019 mercedes benz g550 review fullwide

The boxy, heavy Mercedes-Benz G-Class is a throwback to a bygone era, when off-road capability was more important in an SUV than connectivity or gas mileage. Yet this backward-looking Benz, known to fans as the G-Wagen, will soon get an electric powertrain.

Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler, confirmed the electric G-Wagen in a speech at the Automobilwoche Kongress in Berlin, Mercedes spokesperson Sascha Pallenberg said in a tweet. However, no other details have been given. Mercedes plan to launch 10 electric cars by the end of 2022, but it's unclear if the electric G-Class will be among them.

In latest prank, BMW ribs Mercedes-Benz with a Halloween joke
BMW Mercedes

BMW and Mercedes-Benz have had a raucous 100-year-old rivalry that disproves the old rumor that the Germans have no sense of humor. In a recent post on BMW's merchandise website, the company advertised a Halloween costume for Mercedes-Benz cars, a car cover that makes it look like a BMW M5. Although the cover will fit many non-BMW cars, the photo clearly shows a Mercedes-Benz underneath. This is just the latest salvo fired from Bavaria aimed right at the three-pointed star.

Like many great rivals throughout history, it is really fun to watch. Back in 2016 when BMW was celebrating it's 100th birthday, Mercedes posted on Facebook a congratulatory video, with a stinger at the end.

Next Mercedes-AMG C63 could ditch the V8 for four-cylinder hybrid power
next mercedes amg c63 could ditch v8 for four cylinder hybrid power report says 2020 s coupe

The Mercedes-AMG C63 is defined by its V8 engine. That 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged motor sets this Merc apart from other fast German luxury cars. But Mercedes' AMG performance division could replace the sonorous, tire-smoking V8 with a four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, reports Autocar. Despite decreasing the cylinder count by half, Autocar claims performance won't suffer.

The next-generation C63 will go on sale in early 2022 with a version of Mercedes-AMG's M139 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under its hood, according to Autocar. This is the same engine used in the Mercedes-AMG A45 hatchback, and it makes 416 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque in that car. The A45 isn't sold in the United States, but we will get the same engine in the AMG CLA45 "four-door coupe," albeit tuned to 382 hp and 354 lb.-ft.
