Ford enthusiast and Mustang lovers have a lot to look forward to in the next couple of years. Not only will the Blue Oval celebrate the 50th birthday of the iconic Mustang, but will also release a brand-new and totally redesigned Mustang to mark the occasion. But rather than exhibit a zen-like patience for 2015 to rear its head, the plucky folks over at Inside Line have supplied our pulsating, pony car-loving hearts with a possible glimpse into the very future of the 2015 Ford Mustang.
Adding to the overall excitement and speculation surrounding its eventually unveiling, the next styling overhaul to the Ford Mustang looks like it could rip a huge page out of the Evos Concept and 2013 Ford Fusion styling book. In fact, according to Inside Line, the next iteration of Mustang will weigh less, utilize a more responsive straight-axle rear end, and provide a curvier body than the current Mustang setup.
It’s no secret Ford has been planning to pencil in some major changes for the iconic Mustang for some time now, but while the current design language harkens back to the ‘Stangs of old, the next evolution of the American sports staple will see it look to the future rather than the past for inspiration. In fact, as we mentioned, Inside Line’s rendered 2015 Mustang looks like the illegitimate lovechild of a 2013 Fusion and Ford Evos Concept.
Traditionally, American muscle cars haven’t carried over well to foreign markets, but the next Mustang is gearing up to change that. Again, Ford has been rather forthcoming with its plans to export the car to foreign markets outside of its typical U.S. grazing grounds, so in keeping with that plan the American automaker needed to come up with a design that would honor the Mustang’s heritage, while allowing it to break out into new territory. It’s a tricky endeavor and one that will no doubt require Ford to tread carefully unless it wishes to alienate a good chunk of the Mustang faithful.
Apart from obvious styling changes, another area we can expect to receive some changes — albeit less drastic changes – is under the hood. It’s being thrown around that the engine platforms found inside current Mustangs will likely carry over into a 2015 Model; with talk of an eventual switch to a turbocharged four-cylinder for improved mileage. It’s thought that the current 5.0 V8 will remain in place to help keep the Mustangs performance levels up to snuff for track enthusiasts.
While we love our speculative renderings just as much as the next guy, the sad fact is, we’re nowhere near an official release. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait until the 2014 New York Auto Show to get an official look at what exactly Ford has in store.

It is time for the 50th Anniversary Mustang so they will need to speed up the process and have a unique/balanced/sellable Mustang by 2014 1/2

Dear God, I hope it wont look like that… It reminds me too much of my train wreck of a last car: Hyundai Tiburon. The front end is pretty much exactly the same. The hood, the lights, the bumper. Everything but the grille. If it keeps these styling, I guess I will just get a used 2014.
are you serious? The tiburon had an awesome design (well the 3rd gen did). This is also a rendered concept, not an actual production model. It will most likely end up looking like a 2-door Fusion

GK eh? lol I owned an 03. It was such a piece of garbage anything that reminds me of it makes me want to gag. It did have a sleek design, but that got old real quick. It’s a mustang. It’s not supposed to look like a ricer coupe. It’s supposed to be bulging and muscular.
And yes, I understand these are just concept renderings, and the end result is rarely exactly like them. But they do carry some things over. I just hope they don’t carry over the front end of that design. I would run away screaming.
A lot of people love the retro design of the current-gen Mustang, problem is Ford can’t push that forever, and these cycles where they shift to a more mainstream design will invariably displease those that really like the current look — which seems to be the case with you fine folks.
Indeed. I love the ’11+ design. I can get along with a new design. Just not one modeled after the Tiburon, which this rendering is very clearly showing.
Yip, it’s time for a newer design (non-retro). But Christ, anything but that blue car in the photo. If the 2015 mustang looks like like that then it’s going to be a slap in the face to musclecar lovers everywhere. If they want to produce that car then fine, just don’t put a badge on it that says mustang. Just kill the mustang so it will at least keep it’s dignity.
