Dubai Police shows off its supercars (and a super SUV) in new video

If you didn’t know the coolest police cars in the world reside in Dubai, you probably haven’t been on the Internet lately.

The Dubai Police isn’t shy about flaunting its fleet of supercars, and it’s at it again with a video appropriately tagged “luxurious super patrol cars for a luxurious city.”

The video features many of Dubai’s exotic police cars, in green-and-white livery with lights flashing, cruising the streets of the city. Highlights include a Bugatti Veyron, Nissan GT-R, and even a Brabus-tuned Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

Of course, the Dubai cops didn’t shell out $1 million for a Veyron just to hand out speeding tickets.

Reportedly worth around $6.5 million, the Dubai Police supercar fleet is used for public relations. It’s a great way for the police to attract positive public attention, and to promote Dubai.

It’s hard to fault that logic, considering all of the attention these cars get from all over the world.

It’s also too bad other police departments don’t have the money to show off with lavish supercar fleets of their own. That’s not a very responsible use of taxpayer money, after all, no matter how cool a Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. with police lights looks.

This 797-HP Dodge Durango Police SUV is a speeder’s worst nightmare
Dodge Durango SRT Pursuit concept

Dodge just found a fun new use for its 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat Hemi V8. The automaker stuffed one of these engines into a Durango Pursuit, the police version of its Durango SUV. Built for the One Lap of America, a tour of various racetracks that runs May 4-11, Dodge calls the hellacious police cruiser a "concept." Speeders had better hope it doesn't go into production.

Officially titled Dodge Durango SRT Pursuit concept, and nicknamed "Speed Trap," the SUV has the engine from a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, meaning it produces 797 horsepower. The Durango was also treated to a cat-back exhaust system, 0.6-inch lower ride height, 20-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires (from a Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody), and upgraded brakes from Brembo. The third-row seats were removed to save weight, and a roll bar and driver safety harness were added. Dodge left the eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system stock, even though they are normally teamed with a much less powerful engine.
