I’ve had mine for a week and this review sums it up fairly well. I would add that the compass, while useless, is cool ok, so I’m easily amused but at least it doesn’t cost another $10/ month to use. I’ve read a lot of reviews hacking on the sound quality and was pretty worried. So far mine has been great (Software version V9560M09). Sound quality on both ends is excellent. Vibrate mode is nearly useless. I could tell my LG VX8300 was vibrating from the next room; you can miss the Casio in your front pocket. Apparently the Boulder is vibration proof from the inside as well as from the outside. The clam shell seam is fairly smooth near the bottom of the phone making it a bit of a pain to open one handed. The flashlight is useful but It would be nice if it could be turned on without opening the phone. SD card access is heinously slow. Where the LG was fast to load pictures, the Casio is painful bordering on useless. Overall I’m satisfied but hoping for some useful hacks to appear.

Well this fell short of what I thought I payed a lot for… the text features are just a zero. You can’t change the sizes.. kind of Club. An over priced cub at that…
Hard to get around in the phone what poor quality sound and the visual part is very poor.

Well we are about to return the 3rd GzOne phone to Verizon due to battery problems, the first one lasted about 4 days and it would not stay charged, we exchanged it and it lasted about a week, now we have had this one about 2 weeks and today a fully charged phone went dead after 5 hours. And my husband hardly uses our minutes, so there is hardly any talk time on his phone. I really hope they can fix this problem because he really needs a tough phone, and the only issue we have is with the battery.

This phone was to replace a Motorola I530. Big mistake on our companies part. The sound is like talking in a 50 gal drum. PTT is worse. The clip holds the phone with the display out. Won’t be long and it will be unreadable. Casio makes watches, not phones.

I just picked up my new G’z one Boulder on Friday and it already rebooted several times per day over the last 3 days. It once froze up, and I had to take the battery out, none of the buttons worked, and once I pulled out on the battery and put it back in, it came on. I have the latest software as of 12/22/08, and it still has rebooting and freezing up issues. The sound quality got better, and you get two batteries with the phone. It’s sturdy as a Boulder, but the software clearly shows the tiny cracks forming. Don’t give up Casio, some tweaking and this phone will shine. Also VZW sold me the old version, they now updated the Boulder and it has a front speaker as well, but I have to trade my phone in to get that. I am still within 30 days, but went from Voyager to Boulder over rebooting issues basically. It’s a shame. Come on Big Red, for the $179.99 price tag, it shouldn’t reboot or even ring wrong!!!

I have had the gzone boulder since 12/1/08 since then I have had one shut off and not been able to get it back on. verizon replaced it with same phone that one locked up on mass text to ten friends and could not read any text or delete any. again verizon replaced it third one shuts off almost every other time i open the phone and almost never says a text was sent always says message delivery failed. I would not recomend this phone and casio wont do anything about it if it wasnt for verizon I would still b stuck with the first one.

I bought this phone for my husband when we were eligible for an upgrade. Spent to the tune of about $250 to get the phone for his birthday. Since it was purchased a little over a month ago, the phone locks up and he has to remove the battery. This has happened as far as I know a half dozen times or more. I would think that this issue would be addressed more heavily considering the hefty price and the durability. I guess we’ll have to chalk this one up to mistake made regarding the purchase of the Boulder.

My wife and I bought the Boulder for each other for Christmas. We received both phones in the mail. When we opened them we were surprised to find they came with two batteries. I was concerned about this and wondered if this meant the battery life was not good.
After two days of ownership we both agree that the phones are useless. They do not hold a charge with either battery. You can charge them at night and when at work they both are dead by lunchtime. Even when you don’t talk on them they use all the battery life up quickly.
I met someone else today who has the same phone and same issues.
Don’t plan on going into the great outdoors with this phone unless you are bringing a generator to charge them.

I have had this phone since Sept 08. The battery will not last the day, phone locks up when messaging, calculator will not work (locks up) and now the case is cracked at the top where it contacts the rubber stop. I have taken it in and had the latest software upgrade and it still locks up. Called Verizon about cracked case and they will not replace the phone. It started by wearing the color off the phone where it contacts the rubber stop and then eventually cracked the case where it makes contact. Not the phone I expected it would be.

Went through two cycles of wash in a row and was un-phased. Has been dropped countless times and no visible damage. A little big, but worth it!

From what I have seen in mine, this phone can take abuse and the battery lasts quite awhile. I love the features it has. Pretty much because it is actually all the stuff I actually need for me. Anyway, overall I love this phone.

The compass doesn’t point North. It is huge but it breaks easily. Trust me, I’m 16 and broke a construction phone. That is way sad!!!!!!

We work for a municipality and need our phones for emergency calls. We just received the new phones last week and my partners phone goes dead after 2 hours and mine lasts about 6 hours. Kinda sucks if I am on an emergency call for 24 hours. Also, the battery gets hot when I am talking on the phone.

Let me see if this covers it…
I am on my second phone as of now, and for the second time, not only has the top of the plastic chipped off in a semi-circle at the top below the hinge (similar to all of my friends who have this phone) but the Casio charger that came with the phone has managed to destroy the inside of the phone where it is practically unable to charge..ever. The phone randomly freezes, usually during pictures or texting and I have to pull the battery out and reboot it. Sometimes it just decides to reboot itself at any given point. It’s not really particular about when. Worst phone I have ever had.

I have had this phone since march. I really regret not reading the reviews before I bought it. the LCD screen has fractured and I am on my 3rd replacement battery. The first 2 batteries only held a charge for 10-12 hours at limited use. Let’s see how the 3rd one holds up.

I’ve gone through 3 of them and it locks up and shuts off. Don’t ever get one, a waist of money!

Unlike some of the others that have said there phone was junk, mine has been through hell and back and still works like a charm. I did have to recently replace the battery, but after a year of use I expect that with any phone. I was a 10 plus year AT&T/Cingular customer and have been way happier with Verizon.

I might as well use a rock to make calls. This phone is absolutely the worst cell phone I have ever used. The Bluetooth is temperamental, the sound quality is poor, limited information can be stored in contacts- no addresses or additional information. I cannot send pics or sound via Bluetooth. If it weren’t my work cell I would just prefer to smash it with a rock!!!

This phone is NOT durable and it is NOT water-resistant. I am a kayaker and wanted a water-resistant phone within easy reach in my PFD when I am paddling and the first time my phone got wet it drowned. I was in the water maybe a total of 90 seconds and it was not even completely submerged. When I challenged Verizon on it, all they say is, “Well it is not THAT water resistant.” They can’t really tell you how water-resistant it is, though. Customer service was terrible, too. Like an idiot I bought a second one and within months a cheap but essential part has broken off and the phone is actually more exposed to the water than any average cell phone. All of the options Verizon gave me: drive a long way and pay to have it repaired or to file an insurance claim but I may have to pay the full cost of the phone. Regardless of how NOT DURABLE the phone is, or how NOT WATER RESISTANT it is NOT their fault. Do not buy this phone. It’s a terrible phone and it doesn’t even succeed at the two things it is supposed to do best.

I love the phone I purchased the extended battery off the bat online and get up to 2 days with out charging. Had to say the charging dock is a little fussy but all in all a great phone if you just want a basic durable phone.

My company issued me one of these phones about 3 years ago. Iam an electrician and often work in “extreme” conditions. This thing is tuff as hell! I’ve dropped it from 20′ off rooftops with no problem. It has also been deep under water, also with no problem. The camera quality is not that great but good enough i guess. It does re-boot randomly sometimes on incomming calls. The bad part is that it won’t record the number in the recent calls list. It has recently become hard to charge. Plugging the cord directly to the phone dosen’t work anymore. When you use the cradle, sometimes the charging light will come on, but it isn’t charging. The charging light actually drains the battery further which is frustrating to wake up to. Over all, its a great phone for use in rough conditions. The flashlight is pretty handy too.
