I'm using the Moto Droid right now here are my opinions:

Key board: to me, it's a useless feature, and somewhat confusing if i'm trying to type special characters. I would gladly have it with just a soft keyboard if I could. I also feel it wiggling around when i'm just holding the phone, and I don't much like that either.

Battery Life & Charging: when using it as a GPS with Google maps for navigation, it works great, the turn by turn has been spot on..... This does however DRAIN the battery - make sure when using these features you have it plugged in. On that note, it still seems to drain the battery faster than it can be charged (which is odd) I drained the battery down all the way, and it wouldn't stay on while charging - I had to completely turn it off, let it charge for a while, then try to turn it on. IT does take quite a long time to fully charge as well.... I'm charging it off of my laptop right now, and with it turned off, it's only gone from 20% to 70% in 2+ hours.

The google connect feature: not all that usefull - my work e-mail and calendar are on an exchange server, which has everything I need, if I didn't have that, the google feature might be more enticing.

Contact aggregation: It pulled my contacts from exchange, gmail, twitter, facebok, etc. This is great. I was able to have this phone up and running in about 20 minutes - with all of my contacts ready to go.

IM/Chat/talk/text: It would be nice if the "instant messaging" features were all aggregated into one app, instead i have both messaging and talk - why both?

Coverage/Call quality: In LAX, everything has been great, no dropped calls, and good 3G coverage. All in all, fairly impressive.

Apps: the app store, in my opinion, is about as good as apple's, but I've only accessed it from the phone, haven't tried online at all.

With all of this in mind - I'm seriously considering the Nexus One, Incredible, and iPhone HD (when it comes out this summer) for my next phone upgrade.

I switched from one of the original iPhones (Not 3GS) on ATT to Verizon when the Droid came out. I must say, it is an amazing phone. I can certainly argue for the iPhone that it is must easier to use, and it moves faster from screen to screen when navigating around the phone’s menu. However, the Droid’s mutlitasking, 5MP camera, QWERTY keyboard (great for games!), larger screen, and removable SD card actually make it better. <a href="<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.cdmacellulars.com"">http://www.cdmacellulars.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.cdmacellulars.com

I’ve had the Droid for two months now and have not had a problem finding an app i needed on the Android market, so 10k apps or 100k apps doesn’t really matter for me. I did find using the iphone that honestly, the majority of apps on the iPhone app store really are junk or goofy gimicks

So currently i'm on AT&T. I'm sick of the service issues I have in this area, so I'm going back to verizon. The droid seems like an obvious choice.

I love my techy toys and sharing info / playing with new ideas on boards like this, so I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi!!

I'm REALLY looking forward to being able to customize the interface and sounds on the device!! those restrictions drove me nuts on iphone!

If you haven't already, check out <a href="<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.Motorola-Droid.org"">http://www.Motorola-Droid.org" rel="nofollow">http://www.Motorola-Droid.org it's an awesome fans site for Droid owners.

Try forwarding your yahoo account to gmail. I have several accounts and them all go through gmail. It is sweet to be able to view all your messages in one spot. There are even free apps to use gmail calendars with corporate calendars and any others and view them all on one so you do not miss that meeting or date. I love it.

DONT BUY THE MOTOROLA DROID!!! I have the Droid and the sound quality is terrible the people on the other end get alot of background noise and echoing and on my end theres a lot of skipping in and out and theres an electrical crackle noise that comes and goes. The facebook shortcut doesn't work right. It connects to Facebook but facebook isn't fully functional. I had to go to the browser and put in the Facebook address then it was fine. My biggest complaint is it's sound is terrible and I don't appreciate being lied to telling me theres no problem. They did the same thing with the Casio Exilim alot of hype but fell short. Something needs to be done about Verizons decptive habits. If this isnt fixed I'm going to look into legal ramifications. I'm switching to AT&T

I bought the Driod and wish I would have bought the Blackberry Storm 2. The keyboard is too small for my fingers, keep missing the right key. Also, the battery life sounds great, but they want me to close my bluetooth application, which means I can't drive and call a number. I would have to go to applications and reset it, which my car doesn't like. So..i am disappointed. I also have yahoo mail and that is a headache. As the Verizon said (after I called with complaints) that if I wasn't a GMAIL person, I "wouldn't get the full effect of the phone", which I am not. 4 diff. verizon people have told me I have to pay the $20 to get a better yahoo account to get it or have a gmail account and learn how to get gmail to get my yahoo mail. Make sense?

I'm just happy that real competition for the iPhone is finally coming out. Not just the Motorola Droid, but the others from HTC, etc. I all for fierce competition!

I have had a chance to play with the Droid, and it is certainly a very nice phone. A little on the heavy side, but it feels well built. If you are someone that likes to tweak things, this is the phone for you - highly customizable and lots of accessories.
