I really like this phone. But i did have a problem with the settings menu. There are no settings to only show an icon or sound only unless your phone is locked. So if someone is using your phone and you get a text part of your message shows. There are no separate volume setting for voice mail or text. They all use the ringer volume. I also think it should have a t9 option for texting on the dialer screen. The phone is not that easy to use for that stuff. Other than that, this phone is fast. I can check my email with a few clicks. And it is cool looking. We all know the other nice things it does. Plenty reviews on that.

I was so excited to get this phone and went through a lot to get it. The way it was raved about, and advertised, it was thought to have been a smart phone. When I went to a Sprint location they told me it WAS a smart phone.

I had a Treo 755, and coming from that to a an Instinct was a great disappointment. I hope Sprint will get it together soon, as they have already been rated most disliked cellular provider. This phone provides some pros like the visual voice mail, and the great camera, but it is limited and the calls are not the most clear. Really do your research before you purchase one.

I thought it would be a cool phone to have for work. I have held off on getting any kind of smart phone and the 3G would have been my other choice but I did not want to switch back to AT&T again. I have been using the phone for over a month. 50% of it is great and 50% of it sucks. The parts that are great is the way that I can get a text message while on the phone and reply to it while on the phone. That helps my productivty greatly. The TV functions suck the worse. I have tried and tried to watch any video from this phone and it will not play or it gets so choppy that it’s not worth the work or effort to try. That is the biggest dissappointment with this phone. The internet browser is a loss as well.

My husband and I each got an instinct and they are awful! They constantly freeze and say out of range and the video is awful. I should have gotten a blackberry, but I was told this was way better, they were wrong.

The Instinct is a decent phone, especially for the money. Very happy with the GPS, and visual voicemail. But there are some disappointments. I have yet to get any streaming video (the tv stations never work), and the video quality is poor. The touchscreen keyboard is harder to use than an iphone, and you can only text 160 characters before having to continue in an additional text. With the power button, you have to press and hold for a second to “wake up” the phone. Problem is, you let go and the phone goes back to sleep, hold a second longer, and you power down. I wish the camera had editing options and a flash. And you can’t turn your phone sideways to flip the picture horizontal. There are no cool apps (like Shazam) available (except for Pandora). And you can’t Bluetooth MP3′s to your friend.

OK, don’t get me wrong, i like my phone, and for the money ($129 and $70/mo.) it’s great. But i definitely wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s an “iphone killer”.

I’ve had the Samsung Instinct for about 6 months now. And for about 3 of those months I loved my phone…let’s say I would rate it a 4 out of 5. I heavily depended on the navigator feature, the camera shot good quality pictures when shown the screen (although not when forwarded to an email address). I like how it is organized, how you can see past texts like an IM and the ability to browse the internet.

However, right from the start the video never worked like Sprint promised, I wasn’t able to hook up my favorite instant messenger, and I had to start a new text when writing over 160 characters.

But after a couple of months those small annoyances were left in the dust as the phone slowly deteriorated. It started with having to press the screen several times for the phone to know what I wanted to do. Then I had to press the touch screen to the left in order to hit the mark, then left and down, and now it depends on the application…internet is left and down, calculator is left, phone is up.

    I am not pleased.

The internet became slower and slower, it is not even worth my time to use it anymore. And the navigation drains the battery, one trip is one battery.

A phone that doesn’t even last a year (this one didn’t even last 6 months!) is not worth my time, my money, and my continued business. I don’t mind shelling out some cash for a good phone, but it has to be a good phone that lasts! I would rate this phone a 1.

It’s very attractive, but that’s it. I’ve only had my Instinct for 3 months and I am ready to run over it with my vehicle.

I bought the Instinct about 6 months ago and today was the first time I had a problem. I could not access the web browser. I called Sprint and it was corrected. Overall the phone is great. My only concerns are not having a flash for the camera. The screen is hard to see outside.

Battery life is amazing plus you have a back up battery that comes with the phone. Yes 2 batteries come with the phone.

I got my phone just before Christmas time, so I have had my phone for almost 9 months now. When I first got my phone the texting was a bit messed, it would put all the received messages before all of the sent, but after about a month it straightened itself out on its own. Also, about a few months after getting the phone every time I tried to look at the news or the weather it would say “uncaught exception”. I thought it would fix itself out but it didn’t so I called and spent about an hour on the phone and I got it all straightened out. What really impressed me about this phone was that two months after getting it I dropped it in the toilet and in less than 24 hours later it was back to working in perfect condition. I haven’t had problems with this phone for about 6-7 months so I’ve been pretty impressed. It has a great battery and some pretty cool features. It is 1000x better than phones I have had in the past so I would recommend this phone, and I am overall content with it.

I have had my phone for approx 6 months. The touch screen has stopped working twice! I love the phone when it’s working…. too much of a hassle. I will replace it as soon as I get a chance.
