Science fiction really needs to up its game. Once, things like brain wave controlled TVs would have been something that would have looked silly on Star Trek. Today there is a working prototype for a brain wave controller. Seriously.
At CES, Haier showed off its Brain Wave TV, a name which is not hyperbole, but rather a somewhat subdued description for a controller that can do exactly what the name suggests—control a TV with brainwaves. Utilizing technology that was developed for medical imaging, Haier’s new toy is still very much a prototype, and may never actually hit the market, but the little kid in all of us may sleep easier knowing that we have technology that the Jetsons didn’t even try to show.
Check out the video, and behold the potentially awesome future of remote controls.
