Liquipel: the invisible waterproof case for your phone

Look out Lifeproof, Liquipel is making moves to become the next protector of all things electronic.

Sure, It might look like witchcraft, but it’s really just science that’s so good you can’t even tell it’s there. Liquipel is a super-hydrophobic nano-coating which bonds to all internal and external components of a device on the molecular level — and since it’s 1000 times thinner than a human hair, it’s totally invisible to the naked eye. Headquartered in Santa Ana, California, Liqiupel Inc. has been making protective coatings for electronics for about five years, and now that it’s perfected the process, the company has big plans for the future.

Currently, Liquipel can only be applied to your electronics at certain locations outfitted with the proper machinery — so at this point you’ve got to send in your phone or laptop (or whatever you want coated, really) in order to get it Liquipelled.

But Liquipel knows that parting with your electronics — even for a day or two — might be off-putting to most consumers, so it’s currently working to put Liquipel coating stations in retail locations across the cpuntry. The company’s hope is that these “Liquipods” will eventually make their way into mobile carrier stores like Verizion and Sprint, so consumers can coat their devices right after they purchase them.
