Last year at CES, we had a chance to get our hands on the Lytro for the first time. The plenoptic camera has brought its refocus magic to the consumer level, and over the past few months has kept busy with a bevy of software upgrades that have seriously expanded what the innovative camera is capable of. Some manual control elements have been integrated into the firmware, as have the Perspective Shift and Live Filters features. The additions have created an all-around much more versatile experience, which some have criticized for being a novelty.
This year at CES, we talked to Lytro director of photography Eric Cheng about Lytro’s busy year and the specific software upgrades — and even asked for an idea of when we might be hearing about some hardware announcements. Check it out in the video.
