Dell Announces Smartphone Deal with AT&T

Dell_Mini_3_Smart_Phone_prototypeDell has added AT&T to the list of carriers for its new Android-based smartphones. Dell says it has established arrangements with mobile operators including the China Mobile, Claro in Brazil, and now AT&T in the states.  That ought to give AT&T a confidence boost after Verizon’s slanderous coverage ads that have been airing the past few months. Although we don’t know much about Dell’s Mini 3 smartphone line-up, we do know they will be the one of the first Android-powered devices on AT&T’s network.

“Smartphones are an extension of Dell’s strategy to develop intelligent and more mobile products that meet the needs of operators and customers,” said Ron Garriques, president, Dell Communication Solutions. “The Mini 3 is a result of listening to customers and creating products that allow people to do the things they want, whenever and wherever they want to do them.”

More details about Dell’s Mini 3 will be announced by AT&T closer to device availability which expected during the first half of 2010.

This cute AI gadget wants to replace your smartphone

“Infer and model human actions on computer interfaces by learning users’ intention and behavior when they use specific apps, and then mimic and perform them both reliably and quickly.” That’s the promise of a rather cute, but cutting-edge device called the Rabbit R1, which was previewed at CES 2024. In simpler terms, it wants to keep us from getting lost in the maze of smartphone apps.

Instead, it wants to replicate human interactions with apps by learning and then removing them from the equation. And it can do it all without requiring a phone to pair with. Cellular connectivity is part of the package here, as is Wi-Fi, to execute AI-based tasks within apps without actually having to open those apps on your phone.
