ok reading up i noticed alot of mixed comments on the mamba. i just got mine, a tad pricey but omg.... its like sex in your hand....

seriously the fast DPI is incredible. ive had no skipping problems. sure the battery life can get as low as 8 hours, but it has a battery life display showing how much it has left... so why not just plug it in when its getting low, its not that hard to do that so stop whining about battery life. Wirelessly, it works perfectly. no delay, no shadow. nothing, simply perfect. personally i didn't notice any difference between wireless and with the wire plugged in.

its the fanciest mouse i know, looks awesome.. friends all jealous. also, extremely comfortable with the rubberish coating. if your willing to spend the money, get it, you wont regret it.

Tracking and precision - great.Software - not so much. I have been dealing with razer support for over three weeks now. My mamba doesn't remember my acceleration settings and no matter what, the acceleration gets disabled in my favorite game UT3. I even got used to it by now, but still... I am using XP sp2, so razer tells me to upgrade to sp3. Well guess what. People have a lot of issues in Windows 7 as well. Razer, it's a MOUSE for F sake, it should WORK right away! It's NOT a $50 000 printer that needs a professional maintenance. And what I really don't like is their on mouse memory. The idea might be ok, but the way razer deals with it is horrible. It takes forever to change anything because you have to "upload" every change to the mouse and that takes up to 30 seconds. maybe 15 with the new software. 15 seconds for EVERY change is too much if you ask me. I even given up on creating macros and all the other stuff because of it. Too annoying. Battery life? I have never owned a mouse with such a short battery life. 8 hours sounds about right for a new battery. When I am playing I have to plug the cord in so it doesn't stop working in the middle of the fight. So I have a corded mouse for $150. Great. I wanted to return the mouse but off course Razer doesn't take it. If I had to choose again, I'd buy a LOT CHEAPER corded mouse.

I picked up one of these the other day and WOW, it has been great. The price is a bit ridiculous, but my current mouse was starting to have issues (The MX Revolutions just don't hold up well) and this looked good.

With small hands, my prior mouse the MX Revolution tended to be a bit big for them and I always had to stretch for some buttons. The Mamba fits my hands much better and feels very comfortable. About the only issue I have is with the 2 small button in the upper left. They are a bit too small, even for my finger, to press, without pressing the main mouse button, as well. They should have raised the button up a bit so they would be easier to press without accidental mouse 1 presses.

Oh, and as for the infamous "ring" surrounding the laser that has been giving the jitters to the cursor, I purchased my at Best Buy (brand new, not a return) and it was already replaced with the black Teflon one (that most had been sent). So it looks like the newer ones are already fixed, from the manufacturer.

I read a review on another site that talked about some major problems that the Mamba has. It said that a lot of the Mambas had skipping problems, and that you would have to manually replace the little ring on the bottom of the mouse. Sounds like a lot of work for such an expensive mouse.

I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E

I was trying to decide between the G9 and the Mamba, the G9 has tons of ways to customize, and no matter what you do to it, its still too short. Now I am 5'8 and athletic, my hands arent very large, yet my fingers hang off the edge and its uncomfortable. The scroll wheel well, once you spin that thing where it stops nobody cares GL zooming in do or die scenarios. G7 FtW, Failz. Fail.

Now as for the Mamba, the top 2 buttons are carved out like beautiful valleys causing your fingers to rest IN the mouse rather than ON the mouse, pure genius I find myself stroking them on a regular basis as though i've finally found something thats been missing all along. The on-the-fly sensitivity is the answer to hardcore FPS gaming, perfect placement not in the way and not too far. The left buttons are perfectas well with a reassuring and dominant CLICK feel to it. Middle mouse is nice and the scrolling is satisfactory. 5600DPI is something for only the hardest of hardcore gamers, if you can master it people will swear on their children you are hacking. ITS SO FAST you actually have to grip the mouse and build muscle to use it properly, after a few months im still getting there. Luckily you can set all 5 stages of on-the-fly to w.e you want it to be in increments of 100.

The only issue I have is the battery, I dont want to call Razer liars, they probably forgot Gamers will actually use it for 14 hours straight. Mine lasts 8 tops. I actually took it back and got a new one out of frustration, same deal. The battery life is also inconsistent, since it uses a lithium-ion battery much like the one in your cell-phone. It matters not since it takes 2 seconds to plug the ultra-high quality braided USB cable in (note the gold contact on the usb side). Charge time also takes 4-5 hours so dont bother unless you are sleeping.

In conclusion, want to frustrate your friends, shatter the hopes and dreams of your enemies, and do it all with comfort and grace? Spend that cake, its worth it.
