Acer Launches Tricked-Out Aspire One Netbooks in North America

Acer has brought its Aspire One D250 and 751h netbooks to North America, featuring improved memory and storage...and even and 11.6-inch HD display.

Computer maker Acer has a strong presence in the popular netbook market, rolling out a dizzying array of its Aspire One netbooks to seemingly eager consumers. Acer is now stepping up its game a bit, introducing two somewhat souped up netbooks, the AO751h and AOD250, featuring improved storage and memory…and the 751h even carries an 11.60-inch high-definition screen.

“These two new Acer Aspire One offerings will satisfy the needs of today’s extremely diverse mobile users—from professionals who need a streamlined, highly mobile form factor to students who want a productivity-enhancing large keyboard and display,” said Acer Americas VP of product management Sumit Agnihotry, in a statement. “In all cases, Aspire One customers get a reliable, easy-to-use, stylish device that will let them remain connected.”

Both netbooks feature a Intel Atom processors—just like almost every other machine in the netbook class, at the moment—although the 751h sports a 1.2 GHz processor while the D250 runs with a more-common 1.6 GHz CPU. The D250 sports a 10.1-inch 1,024 by 600-pixel display, 1 GB of RAM, 160 GB of hard drive storage, 802.11b/g and Bluetooth wireless networking, a card media reader, an integrated Webcam, three USB ports, and VGA output. The 751h steps up to an 11.6-inch 1,364 by 768-pixel display and adds an SD card slot. Both systems run Windows XP Home SP3, and sport stereo speakers.

Both units are available now, with the 751h available in sapphire blue at a suggested price of $349.99, while the D250 has a starting price of $298. Both come with a standard one-year parts and labor warranty.
