Acer Tops EMEA PS Sales

The people at Acer have every reason to be feeling good today. According to a new report from Gartner, the company has pipped HP as the leading PC seller for the third quarter in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and secured third place in global sales behind HP and Dell. Much of the credit is due to Acer’s strong position in the mini-notebook market, according to ZDNet.

According to Ranjit Atwal, Gartner principal analyst for client computing markets:

"HP delayed its introduction of mini-notebooks into the market, potentially fearing cannibalization of its existing notebook markets, but did not anticipate that Acer would be able to ramp up its channels so quickly."

It’s the first time since 2002 that HP has slipped from the top spot in the EMEA area. The Acer sales include number from its Packard Bell and Gateway subsidiaries.
