Alienware Pumps Up “Mobile Desktop”

Company's top of the line Area-51m 7700 laptop computer gains more multimedia bump with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

You know a laptop will have some muscle under its hood when its maker calls it a “mobile desktop”. Such is the case of Alienware’s award winning Area-51m 7700, which the company announced today there were outfitting with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to bring even more of a multimedia experience to gamers on the go.

The Alienware Area-51m 7700 has all the usual Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 bells and whistles, including dual-tuner support and features of a DVD player, PVR, FM tuner and more. In this same vein, it comes equipped with a Windows Media Center remote control, IR receiver and PCMCIA TV tuner.

Under the hood of the Area-51m 7700 are things like an Intel Pentium 4 desktop processor with 1MB of cache, PCI Express technology, room for up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, NVIDIA GeForce GO 6800 graphics technology and a 17” widescreen SXGA LCD display.

“Alienware introduced the Area-51m 7700 mobile desktop just a few months ago and it has already received an overwhelmingly positive response from customers and media members alike,” said Patrick Cooper, director of product management for Alienware. “With the addition of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, the Area-51m 7700 now stands poised to garner further acclaim as the system of choice for anyone desiring easy mobile access to all their entertainment.”
