Alienware Corp. on Tuesday said it had signed a deal to build a powerful research computer for Florida International University.
Alienware, known for high-end gaming systems, said the supercomputer at Florida International University will be powered by 98 AMD Opteron processors.
Alienware said the system would be used for several applications such as hurricane simulation and biomedical research.
