Apple Aces Reliability Report

New data based on one company's repair rates shows Apple outranking all when it comes to reliability.
Ask a computer repair technician who makes the most reliable computer, and apparently they’ll tell you – based on how many repairs they see – it’s Apple. According to new data from Rescuecom, a company that fixes computers at locations nationwide, Apple is tops when it comes to dodging downtime.
The company recently added up 36,000 service calls to its call centers between January and October of this year, then balanced them by factoring in each company’s estimated market share. The results ranked Apple tops with a score (in which higher is better) of 700, followed distantly by Panasonic with a score of 489. Other top performers included Lenovo (393), Toshiba (299), and HP (184).
Rescuecom, which claims to be “manufacturer agnostic,” indicated that in the broader results, name brands almost universally outranked no-names. “Based on the results, consumers should stick with known brands and carefully research extended warranty options,” said the company’s CEO, David Milman.
Though this is the third time Rescuecom has compiled annual results based on its data, it plans to produce more regular quarterly reports in the future.
