Apple releases iTunes 11.0.2 with composer view, enhancements, bug fixes

itunes11_nosidebarApple rolled out a minor update to iTunes on Tuesday. Besides the usual bug fixes, which include sorting out an issue where purchased items sometimes failed to show in the iTunes library, version 11.0.2 also adds a new composer view for music.

Composer view does what it says on the tin – show the name of the composer for a piece of music. Is that something you felt you were missing? If so, include the column on your music listings page by clicking on View then View Options and check the Composer box.

Apple says the 54.2MB update also improves responsiveness when syncing playlists with a large number of tracks, and offers stability and speed enhancements.

The latest update offers a few tweaks to version 11, a major overhaul of the digital media player/organizer which the Cupertino company rolled out in November last year.

Version 11, which brought the look and feel of the iOS and desktop versions closer together, introduced a new MiniPlayer with increased functionality and brought in a new expanded view feature allowing users to click on an album cover to bring up a panel listing its tracks. It also eliminated the library sidebar from the default view and added a preview history and more iCloud functionality.
