Ask.com Retires Jeeves, Gets Face Lift

The "new and improved" search portal sends their butler to the unemployment line as they unveil a redesigned look and new features.

The Web site formerly known as AskJeeves.com was today officially unveiled as Ask.com in an attempt to re-brand the site as having “differentiated search technology, instinctive search tools and a sleek design to help people get what they need faster.

  1. Justin at 11:04am 1st March 2006 I'm baffled as to why they removed the butler, as well. If they are going to try to capture some of the search engine market, they have to differentiate and brand Ask.com as somehow better or unique versus Google, Yahoo, etc.
  2. Ian Bell and Dan Gaul at 8:43am 27th February 2006 The new site looks empty to me. I preferred the "Jeeves" butler. I thought it added character IMO.
