BenQ Announces 23-inch Widescreen LCD

BenQ has announced the latest display in their lineup, the FPFP231W, a 23-inch LCD that features a 16ms response time.

BenQ introduced its new BenQ FP231W large-screen LCD monitor that features a 23-inch screen, high brightness and contrast levels, as well as 16ms response time and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Designed for multiple applications, from video viewing and playing video games to word processing and other office work, the BenQ FP231W comes equipped with four USB ports, as well as D-Sub, DVI-D, S-Video and Composite video inputs.

The BenQ FP231W has a resolution of 1920 x 1200, contrast ratio of 500:1 and brightness of 250 cd/m2. With its 16ms response time, wide viewing angles (176/176 degrees H/V) and a full 16.7-million color palette, the FP231W is able to display exceptionally crisp and vivid images. It also comes with an optional 4W x 2 speaker attachment and optional web cam.

Its 16ms response time is one of the fastest in the larger-screen category. Response time is the screen’s signal reaction speed – the time required for the screen to turn from completely white to completely black and vice versa. Response time is a critical element for LCD monitors and needs to be less than 17ms to enjoy smoother transitions without still-image retention or delays in motion. For example, a 16ms LCD is equivalent to 63 images per second versus a 25ms LCD that equals 40 images per second.

“The BenQ FP231W packs a lot of features into an even bigger LCD monitor,” said Thomas Han, vice president of Display at BenQ America. “We wanted to make sure that-with BenQ’s new large-screen LCD-consumers get the most from their monitor, whether using it at home or in the office. Considering everything that comes standard with the FP231W, all the video inputs, a 16:9 aspect ratio and amazing resolution, this is the perfect monitor for any video-based content.”

The BenQ FP231W is a 23-inch LCD monitor that features 16ms signal response time for dynamic screen motion that yields smooth, full-motion visuals and prevents “ghosting” of images. It delivers a brightness of 250 cd/m2 with a contrast ratio of 500:1 for clear and sharp pictures. The FP231W comes with D-Sub, DVI-D, S-Video and Composite inputs, as well as VGA and DVI cables. The BenQ FP231W has a resolution of 1900 x 1200 pixels with a 16.7 million-color palette to ensure precise color reproduction.
