G.Skill Falcon II (256MB)

Street price: TBA

Priced aggressively and an admirable performer, G.Skill’s original Falcon solid state drives hit the mark with a lot of early adopters. But that was then and this is now. Successor the Falcon II comes in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB flavors, and will take advantage of the latest SSD developments. Furthermore, G.Skill claims the entire lineup will once again be priced to please. For laptops or PCs.

Intel X25-M G2 (80GB)

Street price: $300

The first generation of solid state drives was, to say the least, erratic. Yet Intel’s original X25-M drives were fast, comparatively problem-free, and deserving of all the glowing reviews they received. Intel is now back with its second generation of the X25-M series, and the plaudits continue. Options are available for both laptops or PCs.
