Buffalo Adds New Security Scheme To 802.11g

Buffalo Technology the global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wireless networking solutions for home, SOHO and SMBs, announced today that its new patent pending technology, AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS) will be available for its line of AirStation wireless networking products.  The latest products that feature AOSS include:

  • AirStation 54Mbps Wireless Desktop PCI Adapter (WLI2-PCI-G54)
  • AirStation 54Mbps Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G54L)
  • AirStation 54Mbps Wireless USB Adapter (WLI2-USB2-G54)

AOSS provides users with automatic set up of a secure wireless network with the push of a button. The technology detects and configures other AOSS enabled devices and seamlessly creates a secure connection based on the highest level of encryption available.

Current products that feature AOSS are the AirStation 54Mbps Wireless Cable/DSL Router with AOSS  (WBR2-G54) and Buffalo’s flagship AOSS-enabled solution, the AirStation Wireless 54Mbps Wireless Ethernet Converter (WLI2-TX1-G54).  The latter now features a new chassis with a physical button for one-touch wireless connectivity to PCs, printers, scanners, hubs and switches. The product can also be used to connect gaming consoles and entertainment devices with an Ethernet port.

“We receive constant feedback on how difficult it is to set-up wireless security. Many users either don’t want to deal with the hassle or they don’t understand how to set it up. So, they take the risk and go without,” stated Morikazu Sano, vice president of Buffalo Technology’s Networking Division.  “By integrating AOSS into our products, we are removing the aggravation and confusion of setting up security on a wireless network while providing a means to simply connect multiple devices on that network.”
