Reuters is reporting that Google has hired the lead engineer from Firefox fueling speculation that Google could be developing a browser of their own.
The popular Firefox web browser has been downloaded more than 20 million times since its birth and continues to gain market share with estimates around 5 percent – at the minimum. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has been plaque by security breaches and reliability issues over the past couple years allowing browsers like Firefox to be a more likely alternative to the consumer.
Google’s Chief Executive Eric Schmidt went on recording as stating that the company is not developing a web browser, but they may use the free Firefox and create their own version with special add-ons and features.
