CWShredder Software Gets Final Release

CoolWebSearch (CWS) is the spyware we all dread. It takes over your system and is hard to remove. CWShredder the only program that can successfully remove it, is endangered.

“CoolWebSearch is the name of a variety of different browser hijackers, all of which redirect users to coolwebsearch.com and other sites affiliated with its operators.

Merijn, a graduate student at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, single-handedly wrote and supported CWShredder in his spare time. He has updated the program to remove each new variety of CWS but states in a farewell note, “I simply do not have the tools to remove the latest variants, they are too aggressive or complicated to allow automated removal by CWShredder.”"

Without any laws in place to prohibit companies like the one that produces CoolWebSearch, spyware will basically go unchallenged in the online realm. This is a sad day indeed. Check out Designtechnica’s own spyware forum for good resources on how to get rid of spyware including CoolWebSearch.

  1. Anonymous at 4:04pm 19th April 2006 i have the same problem, CWShredder does not find it. apparently, there has not been a recent update because the man who made the software (on his own volentary time) is unable to remove the newest versions of cool websearch from his own computer manualy, forget creating a program to do it for you. my suggestion, re-immage the computer. it seems to be the only option i can think of (although it is not an option for me). if anyone finds a solution please tell me.
