D-Link today introduced a new D-Link AirPremier Access Point (DWL-2200AP), a business-class 802.11g AP that delivers instant Power over Ethernet (PoE) for remote placements where power outlets are not within reach. Speed enhancing options and robust security and management feature sets round out the new AP. With robust management capability, the D-Link AirPremier Access Point complies with 802.1x user-based authentication and supports WPA, AES encryption, as well as the upcoming 802.11i security standard.

“Our new D-Link AirPremier AP access point delivers great range and throughput plus built-in Power over Ethernet features that combine to enable system administrators maximum location flexibility for strategic planning and deployment,” said Steven Joe, president and CEO of D-Link. “We have also added a more robust standard-based management capability and advanced security all to make it an ideal choice to future proof a growing business network.”

The D-Link AirPremier DWL-2200AP offers robust enterprise-level SNMP management giving network administrators full control of network access and usage. With wireless security features such as IEEE 802.1X user-based authentication, WPA support, support for the upcoming 802.11i (WPA2) security standard, and support for AES encryption right out of the box, the new D-Link AirPremier AP offers the best encryption and wireless security features available. The AirPremier AP supports IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE), providing power to the device over the Ethernet cables with the included injector, eliminating the need for an additional power source. The wireless Access Point is easy to manage with the D-Link web-based user interface and Telnet configuration. The included D-Link D-View Network Management Software uses SNMP v.3 and supports Access Control Lists (ACL) allowing real-time network traffic monitoring.

Taking advantage of the latest in wireless speed enhancing technology, the D-Link AirPremier Access Point can operate in one of three speeds, straight 54Mbps G Mode, Dynamic Turbo Mode and Static Turbo Mode, delivering up to 15x faster performance than a standard 802.11b access point.

The D-Link AirPremier 802.11g Wireless Access Point features Wireless Distribution System (WDS) offering four operational modes – Access Point for creating a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), Wireless Repeater to extend the range of D-Link AirPremier 802.11g wireless LANs by an additional 50% of coverage, AP-to-AP Bridging for wirelessly connecting two networks, and Point-to-Multipoint Bridging for wirelessly connecting multiple networks. The D-Link AirPremier Access Point is compatible with all D-Link high-gain antennae to extend the range even further for maximum possible coverage.

The D-Link AirPremier Access Point (DWL-2200AP) will be available in mid-September through authorized retail, reseller and distribution partners at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Price MSRP of $199.99
