Dell Considers AMD For Server Lines
Dell, the worlds number one computer manufacturer is considering using AMD's chips in future server products
“Chief Executive Kevin Rollins said the company was considering using Advanced Micro Devices chips for some future server products, but stressed that Dell had no formal plans as yet to embraceAMD.
“We have been studying AMD closely. Some of their products are more advanced,” Rollins told reporters during a conference call following the company’s third-quarter earnings report.
“We have not announced using any AMD products,” he added. “
Dell remains one of the only computer manufacturers to remain a 100% Intel shop according to Reuters. But with AMD being the first to market with a 64-bit processor and with Intel’s woes lately, perhaps its time for a change.
