Dell Expands Inspiron Notebook Lineup

Dell today introduced the Inspiron 1000, a new value-priced notebook to meet the needs of budget-conscious consumers and small business owners.

With a starting price of $799 and weighing less than 7lbs1, the Inspiron 1000 is marketed towards consumers and small business owners who need basic computing and productivity performance in an inexpensive notebook.

The Inspiron 1000 is expertly configured by Dell to provide customers with a choice of different hardware options to best meet their specific needs. Customers also have the option to upgrade service, software and peripherals by selecting their desired preferences during the purchasing process.

All Inspiron 1000 configurations come with a Mobile Intel Celeron 2.20GHz processor, up to 64MB shared2 system memory for graphics, integrated 10/100 LAN for convenient broadband and network access, standard 56K3 modem for convenient dial-up Internet access, three (3) USB 2.0 ports for high-speed peripheral connectivity and Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.

For users seeking wireless connectivity capabilities, the Inspiron 1000 offers users an 802.11 b/g (54Mbps4) wireless PCMCIA card option.

The notebook also includes solid multimedia capabilities, including a standard DVD/CD-RW combination drive for viewing DVDs and burning CDs, Dell Jukebox powered by MusicMatch  for downloading and managing music files, Dell Picture Studio Photo Album and Paint Shop Pro for acquiring, enhancing, and managing digital pictures, and Dell Media Experience, which allows each member of the family to enjoy photos, personal video, DVD movies, and music through an easy to use interface.
