Dell Rolls Out New Media PCs

New mid-range and compact Windows XP Media Center Edition PCs targeted towards home offices, media rooms and dorm rooms.

Dell added some new computers to their Dimension line up today which they say will offer enhanced multimedia features, run quieter and blend better with home and office environments.

The new 5100c and 5100 offer up a redesigned chassis trimmed in alpine white and arctic silver colors. Both models feature technologies which Dell says help reduce noise and improve cooling.

The 5100c appears in a foot-tall form factor which is powered by Intel’s dual-core processors. It runs off of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and comes with a Media Center Extender, TV tuner and DVD burner. The 5100c can fit in office spaces as wide as a business card or be installed horizontally inside a home entertainment center.

The 5100 also offers support for Windows Media XP Center Edition 2005, but is scaled down in features and more targeted towards students and those seeking a second or third computer.

The 5100c starts at $1,049, while the 5100 is priced at $899. Both systems will be available next month.

  1. Ian Bell and Dan Gaul at 11:03pm 28th June 2005 The 5100c has a sweet looking case. I would prefer a system that looks like a home theater component for a media center PC though.
