Dell To Charge Extra For XP

Dell had announced it would continue to offer Windows XP to customers — but now it says it will charge an extra $50 for the downgrade.
Microsoft said long ago that it would stop selling Windows XP at the end of this month. Dell replied by announcing it would continue to offer XP as an option to its customers.
Now Dell has announced that it will immediately begin charging an extra $50 to customers who want to downgrade to XP from Vista on its Vostro line. It will also charge for the downgrade on some of its XPS gaming systems.
This about-face is going to make some people look twice, especially as the company had been so adamant in the past about offering XP as a free option.
