Dell’s New XPS 600 Desktops Do Dual Duty

New flagship desktop for gamers and power users features Intel dual core processors and Nvidia scalable link interface technology for dual graphics.

Computer manufacturer Dell announced today they will soon be out with a new souped up computer they think will wow power users and gamers. The new flagship XPS600 desktop, when it debuts in a few weeks, will start at $3,099.

The XPS 600 series features dual graphics based upon new Nvidia scalable link interface technology combined with Intel dual core processors. This creates an effect which Dell says will allow users to play 3-D games and DVDs at the highest resolution settings possible as well as easily running any future applications or devices requiring high video bandwidth.

Other features of the XPS 600 series include Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and up to 8GB of memory.

“Dell worked aggressively with NVIDIA and leading game developers to bring dual-graphics innovation quickly to customers,” said John Medica, senior vice president of Dell product group. “The innovation behind the XPS 600 gives gamers and enthusiasts bleeding edge performance and entertainment value, along with the support services to keep their systems staying up all night right along with them.”

  1. Ian Bell and Dan Gaul at 4:01pm 8th August 2005 I think it might be a little premature to put a 64-bit operating system and dual procs on an Intel based gaming system. My understanding is that a not a lot of games support 64-bit processing yet, so this may just be a big waste of money.
