Last year ATI gloated over Nvidia that they supported the latest DirectX standard, however this year ATI is not supporting Microsoft DirectX 9.0C and Nvidia is. Is this a mistake?

Nvidia’s and ATI’s new video cards both offer record speeds in the frame rate department with Nvidia’s new 6800Ultra edging out the ATI X800 every so slightly. The difference between the two cards? The Nvidia 6800Ultra is faster and supports Microsoft’s DirectX 9.0C, standard soon to be released this year. But a whopping 480Watt power supply is needed to run Nvidia’s latest card. ATI’s X800 trails Nvidia’s card just slightly, but will be able to run off a standard powersupply. The only catch is that it does not support Microsoft’s DirectX 9.0C. Is this a major mistake on ATI’s side or something that is simply not that important? We want to hear from you. We have posted a discussion about this in our forums here:
