Value-priced vendor eMachines has freshened its lineup for the holidays, introducing two multimedia desktop PCs with AMD Athlon XP 2800+ processors.

The systems will feature AMD Athlon XP 2800+ processors, Nvidia’s nForce2 chipset with GeForce4 MX graphics and six-channel audio, 512MB of DDR333 memory, and 8-in-1 memory-card readers. TheeMachines T2825, priced at $619, comes with a 120GB hard disk and separate DVD-ROM and CD-RW drives; the T2865 steps up to a 160GB hard disk and multiformat DVD+-RW for $719. Both systems have an AGP8X slot for graphics upgrades.

Other eMachines models include the M5312, an update of the company’s 6.5-pound, wide-screen Athlon XP-M 2400+ notebook with integrated 802.11g wireless networking and a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive ($1,249), and two Intel 845GV chipset-based desktops with integrated graphics — the Celeron/2.5 model T2542 with CD-RW drive ($399 after $50 mail-in rebate) and Celeron/2.6 model T2682 with both CD-RW and DVD-ROM drives ($479 after $50 mail-in rebate). The company’s 15- and 17-inch LCD monitors are $299 and $399, respectively, after $100 mail-in rebates.
