The Mobile PC Extended Battery Life Working Group has released laptop guidelines for the development of fuel cells.

Fuel Cell technology is the latest in cutting edge technology for the mobile market. Fuel Cells promise much more energy capacity laptops. Early reports indicate it would not be uncommon for a Fuel Cell to power a laptop for 8 hours or more off a single charge.

The Mobile PC Extended Battery Life Working Group is an organization spearheaded by Intel Corporation. Among the members are companies such as Acer, Asustek Computer, Compal Electronics, Dell, First International Computer, Fujitsu, Inventec, Legend Holdings, LG Electronics, Matsushita, Microsoft, NEC, Samsung, Toshiba, Quanta and Wistron.

In order for a Fuel Cell battery to work, a completely redesigned system needs to be created that supports a fuel pump, special cooling and even a starter battery.
