Fujitsu PC Enables HDTV Recording
Fujitsu PC in Japan has developed a massive 32-inch LCD television that integrates a full personal computer capable of recording HDTV broadcasts.
The FMV-DESKPOWER TX90L/D with a 32-inch wide LCD panel and the FMV-DESKPOWER LX90L/D with a 20-inch wide LCD panel are Japan’s first PCs that can store and reproduce terrestrial, BS and 110-degree CS digital broadcasting contents without converting the HDTV format. NEC Corp. has also released a PC that can record digital broadcasting contents, but this model replays them by downconverting the HDTV format into the SDTV format. Fujitsu has enabled HDTV recording and playback by introducing its proprietary ASIC, the Secure LSI, for content protection. This ASIC is embedded with the digital broadcasting tuner board jointly developed with Pixela Corp.
