Fujitsu’s Slim LifeBook S7211 Under $1,000

Fujitsu is getting on a roll with sub-$1,000 LifeBooks, now with the S7211 sporting a 14-inch display, 120 GB hard drive, and support for 4 GB of RAM.

Computer maker Fujitsu has been on a roll with sub-$1,000 notebooks lately, first with the LifeBook V1010 early last month, then the LifeBook A61110 a couple weeks later. The company’s latest sub-$1,000 offering is the LifeBook S7211, offering a 14-inch display, a slim profile, a total weight of just 5.2 pounds, and a base price of $899.

"With the LifeBook S7211 notebook, Fujitsu delivers a high-quality thin-and-light notebook at a reasonable price," said Fujitsu’s senior director of mobile product marketing Paul Moore, in a release. "For small and medium businesses with a close eye on budget, the LifeBook S7211 notebook provides the performance they desire, a feature set that meets their business requirements and the reliability that is essential."

The S7211 can be configured with either a 1.6 GHz Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2330 or a 1.5 GHz Intel Core 2 T5250 processors, and offers Intel’s GMA X3100 graphics. The notebook’s 14-inch display offers a 1,280 by 800 -pixel resolution, and the system supports simultaneous display on an external monitor at resolutions up to 1,600 by 1,200 pixels. The systems sport a 120 GB hard drive, support for up to 4 GB of RAM (base configs have 1 GB), combo drives or dual-layer DVD writers, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, gigabit Ethernet, a 1.3 megapixel Webcam, three USB 2,.0 ports, an ExpressCard slot, and a media card slot. The systems are available with either Windows Vista Business or XP Professional. The LifeBook S7211s also tout Fujitsu’s spill-resistant keyboard.

The LifeBook S7211s are available immediately from Fujitsu and retail partners; Pentium-equipped base configurations start at $899; Core 2 units with DVD writers have base configurations starting at $1,099.
