Gateway Unveils DX Desktop Series

New desktop line from computer manufacturer features things like the latest in Intel's 64-bit processors and a special chassis which uses dual fans for faster cooling.

Gateway today announced they were updating their desktop line with a new series of computers which feature some of the “latest technology” out there. The new DX series, broken out amongst three models, is available now for starting prices ranging from $499.99 to $899.99.

The DX100, DX200 and DX300, Gateway said, offer up the newest in Intel 64-bit processors as well as the computer manufacturer’s BTX cooling chassis. This Gateway designed chassis uses dual system fans to create a central wind tunnel which circulates more air for the cooling of internal components.

The DX100, the most basic of the three, is aimed at the entry level market, while the DX200 is more geared for those gaming over the Internet or running a home-based business. The top of the line DX300, meanwhile, boasts things like an Intel Pentium 4 processor with HT Technology for running multiple applications at once, a DVD+/-R/RW drive 8-in-1 media card reader and a SATA II/300 hard drive.

“We’ve taken the latest technologies that other PC companies typically roll out only on their high-end systems and are making them available throughout our entire line — from high-performance all the way down to our value models,” said Marc Demars, Gateway’s senior director of product marketing.

  1. Michael Kwan at 6:33am 15th September 2005 Good news for all the consumers. Our real estate office has the 2 of the FX400 and it is runs flawlessly... and the system just runs so quietly compared to everything else we have. We also have the Dell 9100 which no one uses because Dell's tech support can't figure out what is wrong with it. I called Gateway's tech support and got right through and they fixed the problem right away (software conflict with programs we installed). I will be going with Gateway when I get my next system.
