The Gizmo Project has lowered the bar on VoIP calling: Gizmo calls to landlines are free in 60 countries, so long as both parties are Gizmo users.

Skype might get all the media attention (and with tens of millions of members, it’s easy to see why) and Vonage might make the most headines, but you’ve got to hand it to the Gizmo Project for chutzpah: they’ve just announced All Calls Free, which provides free VoIP calling to landlines and mobile phones in 60 countries. Contrast that with Skype and other VoIP services which require fee-based services to place VoIP calls to conventional phones?

Is Gizmo giving away the whole store here? Well, maybe, but they’re hoping the free service will encourage people to try out Gizmo Project’s VoIP capabilities and service and recommend it to friends
