Hackers Admit Comcast Attack

A pair of hackers have admitted they attacked and took over the Comcast website, but are surprised at the fuss it all generated.

A pair of hackers, nicknamed Defiant and EBK, who run the Kryogenik hacking group, have admitted that they attacked and took over the Comcast website. However, they’re surprised at the fuss it all caused, and Defiant (aka 19-year-old James) told Wired:

"The situation has kind of blown up here a lot bigger than I thought it would. I wish I was a minor right now because this is going to be really bad."

They say they accessed 200 Comcast sites, but only vandalized one by editing the contact address. They claim to have hacked in using a vulnerability at the hosting company.

Once they were in they contacted Comcast’s technical manager to tell him what they’d done, but say he didn’t believe them. It was only then the pair began their defacement.

Some customers had their service interrupted for up to 12 hours because of the attack.
