Hitachi Releases Virtualization Engine

Hitachi introduces the Hitachi TagmaStore Network Storage Controller.

The NSC55 TagmaStore Network Controller handles up to 16 petabytes of externally attached storage.  It supports high end and midrange systems from EMC, IBM, Hitachi, HP, and Sun, among others.   It also offers an internal bandwidth of 12.1GigaBytes per second, and has a 64GB cache.  It has 48 Fibre Channel ports, 16 FICON ports, and 16,384 LUNs.

Another feature is the massively parallel Hitachi Universal Star Network crossbar switch architecture which is capable of running multiple data-intensive applications concurrently.  Hitachi is so confident in this that it offers a 100% Data Availability Guarantee.

The NSC55 offers customers both disk storage and virtualization offerings that come in a uniform rackmounted form factor with a midrange price.
