How to resize an image using Windows Live Photo Gallery (Windows)

Like Preview, Windows Live Photo Gallery is a terrific application that comes preinstalled on almost all versions of Windows as part of Microsoft’s Windows Essentials software suite. The image-management software is quick, light on resources, and features a boatload of tools for editing, organizing, and sharing photos without any prior program knowledge or any external software.

Windows Live Photo Gallery Icon Step 1: Launch WLPG and open your image. Click the WLPG icon depicting an orange, flowering mosaic from the main programs folder to launch the software. Alternatively, search and launch the program using the Windows search bar. Once open, use the left-hand navigation panel to select, double-click, and open your image from its save location.

Step 2: Resize your image. Once the image is opened, click Properties in the WLPG top menu and choose Resize from the resulting drop-down menu. A small pop-up window will appearing housing various options for resizing and altering your image to your preferred specifications. Choose from the custom presets in the top left-hand corner or specify your own maximum pixel dimensions by inputting a value in the box below “Maximum dimensions.” When finished, choose a save location for the resulting file and click the Resize and Save button at the bottom of the window.
