We give you some simple steps to get you up and running on Facebook.
We won’t believe you if you say you haven’t heard of Facebook. We may believe you if you say you have yet to use the popular social networking site. The year is 2010 and it’s about time everyone hitches a ride on the social networking bandwagon and joins Facebook. Joining Facebook is free, simple and worthwhile—it is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family, meet new people and express yourself. Here are some simple steps to take to use Facebook.
Join Facebook
Sign Up. Go to www.Facebook.com to sign up. The sign up by entering the appropriate information as requested i.e. first name, last name, email, birthday and gender. We suggest using your primary email to join Facebook so you receive notifications through it. Also, all of these options are customizable—you don’t have to put your real name if you don’t want to, but it’s help when trying to contact friends and family.
Set Yourself Up. Now set your privacy settings. You can set up your account so that other Facebook users have full or limited access to your profile. We suggest customizing your profile as well—write about yourself and upload a profile picture. Think carefully about public photos and information. Consider what your employer or your grandmother would think of your profile.
Get Friends. Search for your friends, family and coworkers on the tiny search box up at the top right corner. Once you’re on Facebook and have a few friends, the site will suggest other people to be friends with based on common friends or common interests.
Have Fun! Have fun using Facebook: write on people’s walls, play the various games like MobWars, get Facebook apps or buy your friend a digital drink. There are a lot of possibilities on Facebook and the best way to get to know the site is to spend time on it.
