HP, Philips, and NEC Shift Their Businesses

Hewlett-Packard is dissolving global operations and laying off another 15,000 employees; Philips is ditching its chip business and NEC pulls out of Europe's PC market.

Some of the world’s largest technology and electronics manufacturers have announced major changes in their businesses, reflecting shifts in the global economy and marketplace:
