The Federal Trade Commission in Japan has ruled that Intel is in violation of the antimonopoly law due to blocking opportunities for their competitors.
“The commission will soon issue an advisory telling Intel to end the practice, sources said Friday.
Intel is being taken to task for its practice of offering discounts on CPUs to computer makers in Japan provided they agree to limit purchases of CPUs from other manufacturers.
The commission has deemed the practice inappropriate because it blocks opportunities for Intel’s competitors. “
